i personally have a 4 drive sata hot swap bay in my server. it only takes up 3 of the 5 1/4" bays.

no problem. i personally have this one:

AMS DS-3141SSBK Steel / Aluminum 3.5" SATA 4-IN-3 SATA Module (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817332010)

but then again, i ran out of hard drive room in my cages so i needed the extra space.
