Is there a way to change partitions around without reformatting, or compromising any data? I understand I wouldn't be able to move anything with data on it (or could I?), but say D: is a 100gb partition with 40gb free, and E: is a 150gb partition with 25gb free. Is there any software to move say 25gb from the D: partition to the E: partition?
Partition Magic will do the work for you !

Please be advised that it *can* have issues. Backup all data before you attempt it.

You can resize partitions in Vista natively as long as the empty space is contiguous. This usually means one partition has to be empty.

you can use gparted to do it as well. it is free, open source software. you can download the ISO for a livecd from here:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
or for a link directly to the download site:

i've used it and it works well for this sort of thing from my experience. just make sure that windows is shut down properly and it should be able to handle the ntfs partitions just fine.
just download the ISO, burn it to cd using your favorite burning program and away you go. the interface is really easy to understand.
