well i recently bought some new speakers and i'm trying to find out what gauge wire to get.... i don't know much about sound stuff ... i bought these cause they were a good deal got them for like 160 + tax for a pair, looked at buy.com and they were 350+tax+shipping for a pair.
also i was looking to eventually build this into a surround sound package.... LC1/2 and l890's. this is getting hooked into a receiver and then into my computer for high def goodness as well as gaming amazingness. :bday:
ANYWAYS ... after all that said ... what gauge wire should i get for these?

Depends on how far it needs to go. What is the length from receiver to the speakers? You dont need to waste money on monster wire thats like 6GA. 14GA at the most.

the binding posts on the speakers will handle 16 guage like monster cable xp but if your going to go all out and use gold plated banana plugs you could use 12 guage, either option will work very well just don't use anything like that 20 guage radioshack crap. Just keep in mind all types of monster cable require some burn in time before they reach there full potential so the longer you use them the fuller the sound will be.

Get your speaker wire and banana plugs from Monoprice, so cheap its sick. I got a 100ft roll of 12AWG for ~$20...and gold banana plugs are ~$1.50 per pair.

banana plugs are ftl .... i went to frys and got some 16 gauge monster ( all they had) 100ft was 30 bucks ... i made it a point to not get monster ... but it honestly was the cheapest stuff they had. i don't think my receiver can take 12 gauge ... also the speakers are only about 5 feet at most from the receiver. btw THEY SOUND AWESOME ... honestly the best speakers i've ever owned.
one more thing ... i hope to make this a surround sound set up later on but my receiver can only take 4 speakers. should i keep these 2, get an LC1 and a sub .. or should i keep these two for rears and get some l890's or l880's?

so i just got sick when i looked at their site ... i paid 30 for "monster" cable (100ft) ... on there it is 20 for regular cable... and then i bought the RCA to minijack for 15 bucks ... on their website.... 66 cents
