Cause I have a lot of fun with COD 5 zombie mode although I've only been playing it for a few days and can imagine getting sick of it. Left4Dead would be a huge waste at $50 if I only got 20 or so hours out of it IMO.
TIA.

I can't really compare the two since I have only played Left4dead but I will say that Left4dead is completely awesome in every aspect. If you happy with COD5 than I would just wait for Left4dead to go down in price.

The one crappy thing about COD5 is that there is only 1 stock map. There are other custom ones, but joining those serves is a hassle since CooP doesn't auto download maps.
I'd imagine L4D is better in this regard.

Steam regularly has sales. You just missed one on L4D.

L4D has four long maps, and as soon as the SDK is released, there will be a ton in production.
Left 4 Dead is awesome. Sure it's a little short, but I think they plan on adding more chapters in the future.

sure lfd is a fun game, but it does get a little repetitive.
The good thing about lfd though, is that you can play versus which is a whole lot more fun imho playing as the infected.
Zombie mode is awesome in cod5, but I wish there was an end to it instead of just "last as long as you can." With lfd there is a safe house you must get to, so there is at least an objective.
I look at it this way.
CoD5: Hold the fort, Defend against waves.
L4D: Run and gun, get to the end (safe room).
Both are fun in their perspective aspects.

also, you can purchase left4dead for cheaper than steam offers it. All you need to buy is a valid serial key to register in steam. I purchased one for 25$ off of ebay.
I love how digital distribution is supposed to save money. On launch, l4d was $50 on steam. Circuit City had the boxed copy for $35. Dubious, no?
Anyways, to be on topic: L4D is, as others mentioned, the cat's pajamas, slippers, night cap, and any other bed time apparel your feline desires. The maps are always the same, but everything else is always different. Weapons, health, and enemies are always in different places. You can't just go through the motions, if you're not actively paying attention, you're screwed. The only way l4d gets old is if you suddently stop enjoying removing zombie face from zombie body via shotgun surgery. Even if you wind up in a game where everyone leaves, the CPU automatically takes over and covers your arse. If someone afk's for too long, the CPU also takes control of them. The CPU controlled team members aren't brilliant, but they don't lag behind, don't run ahead and generally wont shoot you in the back of the head like a noob or dillhole person would.

very true, i've found that the computers are usually better than players in the way that they ALWAYS rescue someone who's pinned, so if there are cpu's on the survivors team it's actually harder to be infected.

Is that legit or are those stolen?

theyre valid keys so I imagine theyre legit. I got the cd key in the form of a scanned image of the game booklet back cover (or wherever it is the key is printed)

well then he gets negative feedback and a possible chargeback for selling a fraudulent product. the person i bought it from is the only person that seems to sell these on ebay and it's easy to check how your sale is going to turn out by clicking feedback. I can see that he has sold at least 20-30 keys and has positive feedback all around. Who would be willing to mess up a record like that for a lousy 25 bucks?

Prior to launch...L4D was $40. And then you could also buy a 4pack for $130 or $140 initially I think.

Thanks for this tip. I just bought a key on ebay for $30 and it worked perfectly. Could of gotten it for ~$25 if I waited, but I wanted it now so I "bought it now". :-)

So I bought this game about a week ago and the quoted summary pretty much captures it. It's really fun, but I can see it getting old quick unless I find some good partners who use voice coms. The advanced and expert levels require excellent teamwork to win. A bunch of ****** spray and pray people don't cut it.
Over all I'm happy with the purchase. It's lots of fun and pretty different from COD zombie mode. Both great games in their own right.
