well i have a creative x-fi extreme music (older model that everyone loves)

and when it works it sounds great, but the creative driver support is a joke. the only drivers ive found that work and sound good are 3rd party modded ones that still give me errors (cracks/pops/drop of sound in middle of movies) ect..

im looking for a non creative replacement card. i only use headphones and i care more about the music side of the sound. i do game but that does not really matter to me as i have music on while i game.

if your budget is good for it - the Xonar D2X is an excellent option, they
have a new version that comes with an integrated headphones AMP -

Sounds more like a driver/IRQ conflict to me...

99% sure its not the actual hardware.

If you want a replacement for the price Xplosion Xcinema from Auzen is better than Xonar D2X.

If you want to keep the Xfi's EAX and have a great card Auzen Prelude but it is expensive.

Asus D2/PM Xonar is very good also but also expensive

(cracks/pops/drop of sound in middle of movies) ect i tested with 3 sound cards and mine was defective with all the sam problems that you have and i have found other people with the same results.

with all your software changes it's not your drivers i'm 99% sure.:burn:

i know the orignal version of this card had no heatsink and had problems with cracks/pops... so they added the sinks and called it fixed. maybe its a heat problem? i might rig up a fan and see if that helps at all.

im broke after xmas and i really hate this card atm. time to have a garage sale :P
