title pretty much explains it all...how do i run my volcano 7 at max speed...also is it really loud when running on max speed...does any1 have a site with pictures that show how to cut the wires etc...

Don't have pictures, sorry. Can tell you which wires to cut though! The wire with the sensor attached (the green nub) is the area to attack. Just cut out the sensor and reconnect the wires to each other. This will result in the fan running @ full power. If you want to be able to adjust it, just put in a rheostat when you take the sensor out. Hope this helps. :)

Really easy. Open her up. Ground yourself. Remove 4 screws holding fan and coverplate on. Cut out the green thermistor diode thingy. Strip back the wire insulation a bit. Twist wires back together. Cover with a tiny bit of electric tape. Put coverplate and fan back on, and make sure the fan is facing the right way! This whole shebang shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes.

I haven't been bothered by the sound of that 80mm fan at 5100 rpm. But you could put 4 little dabs of silicone on the Heatsink and let it dry, then mount the fan so that there is a small space between the heatsink and fan. This reduces vibration and therefore noise, supposedly.

I bet you can find a guide on the front page under heatsink reviews for either of these mods.

You could also just stick the diode between the heatsink's fins, but that may require you to extend the wires. It would still adjust the rpm's by temperature, but it would be reading the heatsink's temperature instead of the ambient temperature.

Let me know how it works out for you. A lot of ppl dis the volcano 7. But it's worked great for me since I modded it. It's just so huge, and blue!

I have a Cooler Master HHC-001 Heat pipe, the fan run at 7000rpm, what i did was i bouth a 3watts 25oms, variable resistor at radio shack, and conect it to the 12v line, (input for the fan) and now i can control the noise and rpm, i can bring it down to 5000rpm, (really quiet) or bring it up to 7000rpm noise.
