Or whatever it's called. I need to setup a dozen or so computers on a network tommorow with a username database like AD, but I've never done it before(fairly new to bigger networks) and can't figure it out. It would be a PITA if I had to setup user names and accounts on a dozen different computers for everybody. TIA.

This all really depends on what win OS you're running. You really need at least 1 win2k server to manage AD, it's reccomended to have 2. It's pretty simple to set up, just go to "configure your server" in administrative tools then click on active directory. I am unsure how to get win9x computers on AD, but I'm sure it'll say how to some where on this website:

If you don't have a server I'm not sure if this is possible, you might be able to set up a few win2k pro workstations to double as AD servers. Without a server I don't even see why you would need logins.

Yes, but keep in mind this computer must be promoted to a domain controller in order to use AD.
Have to have a DNS server when using it too.
Its really quite easy to do. And then you can have roaming profiles too!! They are very nice...
