Hi all,

ok, I have been upgrading my system over the past two weeks.
I started last week with overclocking my xp 1700+ to 1.61 ghz.
This, with my system specs I list below, I was getting a 3dmark2001 benchmark of 7200. I couple days ago I upgraded my OS to windows 2000, and also installed updated detonator drivers( 23.11), Via 4 in 1 drivers, also upgraded mb bios to newest version. And I added 128 mb DDR memory. I did all this to increase performance, Now my system keeps freezing during 3dmark2001!, and frame rates are awfull! What the **** is going on? I even reset Video card to default specs, still the same! What could be causing this.

** The new memory is case 2.0 , while older mem is 2.5, dont know if this makes a difference.

any ideas whats going on, This is VERY upsetting. Thanks for any help

System:

Unlocked AMD athlon xp 1700+ @ 1.61 ghz ( 134 FSB, 12 Multiplyer)
KR7A-RAID MB with 384mb DDR 2.5
Visiontek Nvidia geforce3 ti 200 (net even overclocked anymore)
Maxtor 20 gb ata 133 HD

I've had 3dmark gimp out on me after messing with the hardware... try uninstalling it and reinstalling it first. Or maybe try an older detonator driver. Got Driectx8.1? Try Win 2k SP2? What via 4-in-1? 4.37?

Oh yeah! Did you uninstall the older video card driver you had? Back it up if you don't have the disk. And try detonator destroyer on it. Just search the formus for the detonator destroyer and you should come up with a link.

Hope some of this advice helps.

Did you upgrade to win2k or do a clean install? That might be causing some of your weirdness.

Tweaking the memory settings may help... since you've got mix-matched ram. Try setting it to cas 2.5 in bios.

You could lower your multiplyer and raise your FSB and see if that helps. It would probably improve your 3dmark score, if you could get 3dmark working anyway.
