Radeon 8500 or Radeon.......

I was wondering if I should buy a Radeon 8500 or would it be worth while waiting for the new Radeon with the R300 chip set?
Also, does anyone know if this new Radeon with the R300 chip set will work with my MSI K7T Turbo?

Can't see why it would not and if ya can wait I would, but then again price will be high and an 8500 will more than do the trick!!!

Not even using all the Radeon 8500 features in games yet. hell, get a radeon for $100 or less and wait for a game to be released that will actually use all those nifty Radeon 8500 features...

Same goes with the GF3.

I'll just stay with my old Radeon 32SDR for now and I will wait for a few months. Is there any major differences between the 7500 and 8500, why is there such a big price difference?

No, which is why I would recommend buying the 8500 OEM when the time's right... and by that time they should be in the $150 ballpark :D

Well, I thought I would be dissappointed to have gone with my 7500, but I'm not. It was $150 less than the 8500 and runs every game just as strong with the exception of those that take advantage of pixel shading. But there are practically no games that do. Heck, there aren't many games that do environment bump mapping yet!

Anyway, I'm gonna stick with the 7500 for another year until things even out again.

I use an ati All in wonder (and theyre suposed to have less performance than the regular ones)

With an ATI Rage PRO chipset. 32 mb of SDR. And you know what!

My 3d benchmark scores are utter poop. But I have not found any game out theyre that I play that I cannot play with absolute flawless performance. I am looking for the radeon all in wonder 8500 dv. but I don't wanna pay 300 bucks..

Just thought its kinda intresting that all these power cards, and I still know people using tnt 2's and continue to this day.

OEM Radeon 8500 are available for $190 at PC shows/pricewatch vendors ?? how's that $150 more than the 7500???

Im with Pinky, I bought an OEM 8500 for $169

And it will smoke some retail 8500's


My advise is if you buy an OEM be sure to ask if it has 3.6ns Memory from the vendor as well as at least a 250/250 config.

The 230/230 4ns Oem should be avoided if possible.

I just ordered the 8500 and I'm moving from an ATI All-In-Wonder Pro 128 with 16MB or ram which I can play Q3A and EQ: Shadows on with out a hitch! I just wanted the new card and I'm putting together a system for my little sister that I'm going to throw the 128 into. If I'm going to do a GPU fan upgrade and put hs on the memory; I figured it would be better to go with a new card.

yeah, if you have GHZ cpu or better, the Rage128 Pro was pretty darn good.....i had trouble in Unreal Tourney though at 1024x768x32......but i got 3dmark scores that coulda smoked some MX200s.....

In this ever changing enviroment, it is hard to believe that a 3 year old card could still compete isn't. Guess thats what you get for buying the best! ;) (I'm not flaming NVidia by my statement considering they weren't around back then; at least I don't think so):D

I'm talking about a retail card from a retail store. I like to know that if I have a problem I can physically return the product for something else. No shipping charges etc. I've just found that in the long run, buying from say Best Buy is actually a better deal than getting something from an online vender. But anyway, the 8500 was $300 when I got my 7500 for 150.
