HI, I am new at OCing and just got a 1.1 ghz AMD Athlon, I heard to OC you had to pencilel out the L1 bridges. well I looked and I really do not know what I am looking for. so if some body could post a pic with what to pencil out shown that would be great. I Just Can't wait to build my new system:D

ok i would suggest you make sure your motherboard and PSU are up to an oc... please post us some specs on your new system so we can help you more...

also you need to tell us the model of the chip, its stepping, if you like, AXIA are the best oc'ers, but there are a few other good ones.

Unlocking the L1's will allow you to change the multiplier of the cpu. It is also possible to overclock with the front side bus (fsb). That does not require unlocking the L1's. All of this is completely dependant upon which motherboard you have.

Here are the specs on my stystem,

Iwill KK266plus-R Mobo
AMD Athlon T-bird 1.1 ghz
512 Mb Pc133 ram
60 gig samsung hard drive
56k modem
NIC card
old SCSI card I have laying around.
24X CDROM drive
heat sink good up to 1.7ghz AMD Athlon XP

This is just to start with. Don't have much $$$. Want to add DVD drive and CDRW drive. Hope to throw on Win XP pro pretty soon.

With that mobo and chip your pretty safe, your heatsink worries me though...

What make is the heatsink?? If its a stock one i would change it??

What temps are you getting at the minute with that setup?
