I just can't figure this one out. I have 2 80mm case fans, 1 PCI fan, and 1 40mm case fan. All this in conjunction with a Dragon Orb 1. I'm running 49C idle and 51C with load!! What the hell is wrong here? I've checked the airflow in the case and all fans are functioning properly. I don't get it.
Did you use thermal paste? Like Artic Silver II? If not, then that is your problem. You could also make sure HSF is setting right on the CPU. Make sure it has good contact, if it's off by a bit your temps will rise. Good Luck.

Thanks, sketch. I'll have to check on the thermal compound, I know the hs is seated properly. I didn't put this thing together, and I really didn't want to pull it apart if I didn't have to. Thanks again for the input.
Your Welcome. But since you didn't assemble the system I'm betting that they use the TIM (thermal interface material) instead of ASII. I have seen people pull up to 5C off a CPU by removing it, laying down a thin layer of ASII, and reseating the HSF. Good Luck.

Do you think I should remove the TIM first then apply the ASII or could I apply the ASII while the TIM is still there? Or is that defeating the purpose?:eh?:
NO!!!!!!! PLEASE REMOVE THE TIM!!!! Use some soft material (pen cap) or something that won't scratch the surface of your HSF. Then clean the area really good, I use acetone (nail polish remover) and alcohol to remove the residue. When both surfaces are perfectly clean, apply the ASII as their direction via there web site. I think you will see a temp differance. :)
