Been looking at adding another DC, and was thinking of using SSD drives (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220342), two in RAID 1. Part of me still thinks one is going to fail.. Given that would you, rather do you think its a good idea? Nothing else will be on the server, just running as another DC on my domain, but just wanted to add a system with less noise. (pic attached) The system in the middle bottom has 8 SAS 15K drives, an expensive heater....lol. So a SSD server sounds nice, but are these things ready for 24/7 use?
I guess they are more than a mechanical drive, but you gotta make sure that you get a SSD with a good controller and optimize the OS to reduce reads/writes on the system.

from what im seeing, i wouldnt risk it just quite yet. read the reviews on new egg, most of the drives are failing after a month or two.
on a side note.. i would hate to have your electric bill O_O

I wouldn't use consumer grade ones, but yes, the technology is there. My father works with huge servers that have huge arrays (terabytes) of SSD drives. No where near cheap, but they are really fast >.>
