I want to install Ubuntu on a WinXP machine. But in six months I want to uninstal Ubuntu and restore my original WinXP boot. How does one do this?

Make a Back-up copy of your WinXP boot.ini before you Install Ubuntu, then when you do Install Ubuntu, only allow Grub to install to the drive or partition where Ubuntu is, you can then just modify grub boot menue to dual boot XP, will be less of a hassle then redoing MBLDR from the XP disk later

Easiest way to do it would be to install Ubuntu within windows using Wubi. Just pop in the ubuntu cd while your in windows. This wont repartition your drives. It makes a virtual file system and installs (basically installs it within a file). It adds ubuntu to the boot menu and to add remove programs. Select it when your booting up. When you get done, go to add/remove programs and uninstall it.
