Trying to decide between these two matrix setups.
Geeks.com has http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=ST3750330AS-R&cpc=HPM $64.99 + $8 shipping for 750 gb
vs

The Caviar Black at $79.99 640gb free shipping
For seven bucks less I get an extra 250gb... but I'm wondering if the speed difference would be enough to tip it into the WD's favor.
(As a side note, I haven't used WD drives in over ten years because they were absolute garbage back then.)

I would currently go with the wd 640's since the seagate 7200.11's seem to be having some troubles.

Sweet Jesus I thought no one would EVER reply to this thread! :)
Thanks.
I already read about all the trouble the 7200.11s are having. Plenty of hard drive trouble to go around these days. Almost as bad as the mid nineties when your hard drive would crash every 10 months or so... (That's when I stopped using Western Digital.)
This probably doesn't help, but I am currently using a set of the predecessors to the WD models you listed, and they are everything they were advertised as.
I am also looking forward to ordering a pair of the ones you listed here in a few days for a build I'm doing for a buddy at work, so I could let you know how much the generational gap between the WD drives is at least.

Already got that covered.

Oh cool, I didn't catch that thread the first time around. I might just snag the new hard drives and give my buddy the (slightly) old ones.
