View Full Version : Corsair dominator DDR3 1600 Issue
Ive got a 3x2gb set of corsair dominator ddr3 1600 triple channel RAM in my EVGA x58 mobo.
Untouched, it runs at 1066mhz.
When I change the setting from Auto to 1600 in BIOS, the system wont boot.
Any Ideas?

:welcome: to the forum!
I suggest booting into windows...on auto settings and running memset to determine the spd timings at 1600 and setting those timings manually.

Nah. Grab memset here:
http://www.tweakers.fr/memset.html
Run from a windows install and note the settings. There's even a little spd tab to tell you what the default timings are for given speeds. Armed with this information you can grab memtest86+ here:
http://www.memtest.org/
...and test your memory settings for stability w/o risking any possibility of fragging your OS install. Then you can tweak away and test stability in memtest86+. Focus on tests 5 & 7, those are the tough ones.

I set all the speeds according to my RAM speed from spd in my BIOS.
Saved, rebooted, and got a blue screen. reset my CMOS blah blah.
so basically: didnt rly work :/...was i missing something? do i change the memory speed to 1600 in the BIOS along with it?

Nope I'd start at 1066 manual settings and get that working first. Did you fiddle with any of the subtimings? vDimm? Did you run any passes of memtest86+?
no memtest yet, vdimm is at 1.7, tweaked qpi to 1.35v
1066 works fine, i was doing 8-8-8-24
got it running at 798.9mhz now.
im happy :)
EDIT: Can anyone recommend a good program that puts your CPU at full load?

use prime95. google search mersenne prime and download the program. it is multithreaded so it will automatically stress all of your cores
