A friend of mine is building a system for his sister, it will be used for standard games ect and also CAM and CAD (She's taking classes in them). I suggested an AMD Athlon with plenty-o DDR RAM. I told him that a GeForce DDR could be "hacked" with software to make it a Quadro for better CAD performance and save some bucks (I have a GeForce DDR and the "soft-hack" program but I haven't tried it). I was wondering if the "soft-hack" would work for a GF2 or 3, or is there a "soft-hack" for these cards? I assumed that gaming performance is the same with the Quadro as the GF DDR, I've heard that the Quadro hack only improves CAD performance and does not hurt gaming performance. I'm looking for info, experience, and second opinions; I guess I could try the Quadro hack on mine, but I'd rather not mess with my system as it is working right now and I can't have it go down in the middle of school. Thanks!

Soft Quadro works on Geforce2s, but for CAD i would probably go Ati....

I've built a system around a GeForce2 Pro + The soft hack :)

Unigraphics V17 works very well indeed once the hack has been applied....

Hang forgot to say the driver hacking is no longer needed - just use NVMax to turn accelerated lines on on the 32.11 drivers :)

The system only has a PIII 550 @ 800 and it runs faster than the system my mate uses at work (2xPIII 700's + A really highend 3d card which cost about $5000 a copuple of years ago)........
