Is it really going to be 7200RPM or is it the fake '5400-7200RPM but really 5400RPM all the time'? I know there aren't many sources on this yet aside from rumors and in a way it doesn't matter because for the application with even higher density platters it ought to perform pretty well.

Where 5400 really hurts is not the transfer rate, it is the seek times. If these are 5400 drives then they should be great for media storage and the like, but not so good for a boot / gaming drive.

Hmm, might do this for my server...

At $229 is good for me. I have seagte 1.5tb and 3 1tb Seagates for backup, this new WD drive will BACK THEM UP. I've had it with Seagate and their firmware problems, had to RMA 2 drives lin 2 weeks cause they "Disappeared" from my system. Thank God for competition..... Now if I can only get ATnT to add Uverse to my area, maybe comcast will give me a break.
Perfect time for WD as I had just replaced 2 750gb WD's with these newer seagates.

Cool. Maybe I'll just sell all my 1s and 1.5s and buy a few of these. Still not even close to big enough but whatever.
$230 seems like a lot, I think I just paid $130 for a 1.5
Any ideas about dates? I really need a new drive!

Damn, I am not a fan of the Green series. I just don't really care if its quiet or not, lol. I have many fans in my case and they're pretty loud, er, more like medium quality noise. So shouldn't be really a big problem for me.

I'm excited. I have been filling up my 1.5's quickly. With the issues Seagate has been having I am just counting myself lucky as I can't update the firmware on them. But 1TB's just aren't large enough(I can hardly believe I am saying that!) These should due nicely.
Nice, I've been meaning to get an upgrade soon for my storage drive.
Don't feel bad. I have 4 1TBs in a 3TB raid 5 and I only have 50GB left. :-/
I don't know if I can swing $1000 for 4 new HDDs....

2TB is a lot of movies and music, dam, and for ~250 seems like a sweet deal even at a fake 7200rpm

I simply need 2 right away, need to get rid of some 1.5tb and 1tb seagates.
I'm sure SOMEONE will post here when it pops up at the egg or zipzoom.

Seriously teasing me. I've got drives just sitting around doing nothing full of data. I need a bigger case and bigger drives.
These were supposed to be out a few days ago. cmonnnn
I'm going to brag and not try and hide it. I have 7.5TB full across 7 drives for a total of 9TB. I could sell all of them and buy 5 2TB drives and be set for a while
