If my math is right, our long-time king of crunchers (all due respect intended) is going to be dethroned in about a week. I'm not sure what to say TC. Are condolences appropriate?
Benz has been crunching at a record-setting pace, but you've been at the top so long TC, it'll seem really strange not to see you there!!

Won't matter soon TC is having Benz thrown off the team anyway, nice thought of competition tho it would be nice to see hey? But unfortunately it has been brought into question the validity of the Results benz is submitting as his returns keep climbing and climbing month to month.

You definately have to question the integrity of his production. For his 1st 6000 WU's he averaged 4hrs 50mins per WU - approximately. For his last 8000 WU's, his times are now about 30 - 40 mins per WU. Something is not quite right. I am sure TC would welcome someone to challenge his position - as long as they are doing it legitimately.
Competition is good, but not unless it's being done legitimately. If he is using a patched client it puts our entire team in a bad light, and indeed his output is highly suspicious. If he is removed it will be in the best interest of the team, NOT so I can remain in the #1 position.
does anybody know who he actually is from forums or e-mail or whatever?

i agree w/ TC.
i would like to see some more competition w/in our team too. however, definitely not in a way of "trick" (patched client) tho!
well, may be TC take the time off for 'bout a yr or so, i "might" be able to challenge him.......and give u guys a good show......:D

I think all the competition on the team is great: it has spurred me on quite a few times to produce more...and more!
But legitimacy is a must: if it ain't on the straight and narrow, it just makes everyone look bad.

be a shame to see all those WU's gone from the team
but since there is questions over the legitamacy of these results
i wouldnt want the team anywhere near them

There was never any doubt about that TC

IF benz is using a patched client, then he should be removed from the team and the SETI@home program. There is a reasonable and well-justified request on the SETI@home web page asking all participants not to "cheat" because of the need for good science (but everybody here already knows that). So, if he, or anyone else, can't understand the NEED to crunch WUs the right way, then, yes, they should find something else to do with their time.
The question I have, is how does that get proven one way or the other? Do the folks at SETI@home have some means of verifying the integrity of the data? And at 15k WUs, wouldn't they have "noticed" him by now if his data was garbage. I assume he's innocent until proven guilty?
And TC, lonewolf1983 is right, no one doubts your motivation for even one CPU cycle. It's been a real pleasure to watch the tremendous output you have. It's fun to watch your WU count climb higher than most countries!

Eric & the team @ Berkeley can verify Benz's WUs as they did when we had IceTea checked out... took SETI all of a day or two (back then--last year)...
It did not take a review of ALL WUs just enough to realize that returned results were bogus... they send a WU out to more than one system... in fact, more than 3, so ID-ing bogus results is just a matter of cross-checking returned WUs...
If history is any experience, Berekely froze IceTea's account... then Eric emailed him.. IceTea did not answer the emails & SETI later removed him at our request...
