I've been watching it for a while - came down from the price of ~$500 from the last time I saw it.

Enjoy.
And the qx9650 is still over a grand on newegg. They might as well consider that a sunk cost and offload those at a better price.

Srsly. It's still 3x the price of the Q9650 .

The QX9650 will still clock a lot higher than these will, and have a pretty much no questions asked warranty
However, I do agree buying one new retail for that price at this stage of the game would be a little absurd :screwy:

QX9650 is C0 stepping and relevant mainly for extreme cooling any more.

and extreme spending. How much watercooling does one have to put on one's wallet to keep plastic from melting?

paper covers plastic rmr? :) The more paper you have, the cooler your plastic stays.

Paper doesn't work online. I tried to shove it in the slot, which just resulted in using the plastic for more replacement parts!

That depends on how superstitious you are. Half multipliers are unlucky, and can cause system instability on even-numbered thursdays in odd numbered years.

The best way to get rid of these highway robery prices (same goes for AMDs FXs) is to not buy them. Force the price down to the $500 price then we can talk!
300 and some change for a 9650 sounds good.
