The fan on my sapphire 3850 pulses. according to GPU-Z the fan will be at 0% then 24% then 0% and back. Is this normal? can i change it?

when i load a game it stops. i think it is connected to the temp of the card.

If it bothers you, set the fan to manual control in Rivatuner. You can set it at whatever % you want it to run at. Personally, I would rather have a kinda loud constant noise than a pulsing noise. I set mine to 100%.

In my 3850's BIOS it's set to have 0% fan speed until a certain temp...kicks on, cools the card to whatever temp then the fan is back at 0% once that temp is achieved.

the catalyst control center does not have an option to regulate fan speed.

I downloaded rivatuner v2.22

Is there an option to control the fan speed?

On the Main tab in the Target adapter section, click on the Customeze box, then click on the little video card icon. Can you enable low -level fan control?

yes
how would i set the fan to run at 0% until 40C and then run at about 20% till 45C and then 27% (what it runs at now usually) at 50C.

i set it to run at 30% and after playing portal for 30 min the highest temp recorded by HWmonitor was 59C. pretty good.

i did for about 20 min of tf2 and i checked periodically and it was about 7c cooler but the high at the end was still 59C. i put it back to 30% just cus it is not as loud.

under 60C is still good right?
