I was trying to install raid wich I finally did but to my horror somewhere in the middle as the Forsaken alienware install cd didnt recognize the raid array yet and skipped ahead to my storage drive.
To sum it up I caught it when it copies the first round of files durring the windows installation. I got to the point where it was asking me what drive to format and I noticed it wasnt the 450+ gb raid array but a 250 gb data !! I immidiatley unplugged it thinking I caught it intime but the alienware cd just automatically boots directly to deleting everything. it must do it first because even if you have a partition on that hard drive it always deletes it!! OMFG ALIENWARE double whammy there.
anyway I am sure all my precious data hasnt been overwritten or hard formatted yet since it just went through the first round of coppying files from the install disk. But on the other hand the alienware voodoo evil cd does its erase thing at the begining who knows what they did?
What steps and program should I use to try and recover all my data its really everything I have from 10+ years of saving. So even if I have to I will take it to an expert it should be cake for them since I caught it before it was physically all written over.
If I use one program will it ruin the chance for a better or the right program to work on the second try. In otherwords when doing data recovery do you only get one chance?
I knew this day would come. I am going to back up everything some other way from now on.
