Anyone here good with squid?

I'm trying to setup a squid proxy on my dedicated box (running xp) and I'm not having a lot of luck. I've got it work locally and on the lan, but what should I do if I want to connect from somewhere out on the wan (from work, school, etc).

I've forwarded the correct port on my router, but nothing. I know it has to the "acl" lines, but I'm not sure what to change.

I want to be able to access (and use) squid from outside my network, as in, over the net.

Set firefox to use it as a proxy, and connect from wherever.
