THATS THE QUESTION.. what u guys think is the chim really worth it or is it a nice way to make the chip that u will see once every month or 3 look kooler ;)

why bother? might even make temps a fraction of a degree warmer.

I agree. I've never used one, and don't think they're necessary.

maybe you could get diffrent colored ones so every time take hsf off it would seem that it was a diffrent every other time

they're used to guarantee even contact of your hsf with core...

to prevent the CRUNCH....oooppsss...


some claim u get a few degrees cooler, cuz the shim helps pass off heat to the heatsink...

Shims are bad bad stuff. It killed my bird because of it. Damn thing was slightly bend and I didn't notice it. So no more TBird for me.

I have played with shims on AMD and Intel CPU's. The purpose of the shim was to provide core protection, and the manufacturers also claimed that they would lower CPU temps. In my tests, I found no benefit for the shim, and in every test they raised my CPU temps 1 or 2 degrees celsius. Save your money.
