Until DDR333 is made a standard, all of it is just pre-tested PC2100. To my knowledge, none are actually manufactured to meet that requirement...yet.

That sucks, tho I think it depends on your perspective too. If it is said to run@333, and runs@333, they are selling what the customer expected to get. On the other hand, they are not calling it "hand-picked to run at 333" which is what it really is.

So, it seems that they may be giving the customer what was promised, just not giving "full disclosure" of how they got there.

I am under the impression that my -5 Kingmax's is true DDR2700

im pretty sure 5ns chips are the real 333mhz specification. at least someone said that at amdmb.com

Also winbond,nanya and samsung all make 6ns ddr chips now, that is the speed memory need to operate at 2700.

You can find them on memory from mushkin and twinmos that I know of so far.

Memory Timings:
100MHz = 10 ns PC100 PC1600
133MHz = 7.5ns PC133 PC2100
150MHz = 6.7ns PC150 PC2400
166MHz = 6.0ns PC166 PC2700
200MHz = 5.0ns PC200* PC3000*

*not available yet/ever

200MHz = 5.0ns PC200* PC3000*
*not available yet/ever

So, the Kingmax "5ns" chips are not really 5 ns chips??

I don't see any reference to 5ns chips. Could you give me a website that shows these chips. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, would just be interested in seeing these, Highest I've seen are PC2700/PC166/6ns

MAybe as memory sticks you are right but memory chips (even DDR) are available down to 3.5 ns.....Those are installed into Graphic Cards and are awfully expensive. That one of the reasons that new graphic cards are sooooo expensive (well, also nVidia's need to make so much money fast will be an issue here). The memory chip manufacterure's are the same than the ones that distribute the memory modules to memory stick maker's. I think that as soon as cheaper (or more mature) tools are developed, 5.0 ns memory chips will be readily available.

I fixed the sig, i knew it didn't quite sound right. Thought of it again when i was drinking and ocing. Almost as bad as drinking and driving, (fried my duron 850). Got a little crazy and went with some insane mods and clocking. Did a 2.1v mod and took the processor to 124x11. Worked for about 2 min in windows, Soon noticed a had no hsf hooked up. DO NOT OVERCLOCK WHEN CONSUMING ALKOHOL. It's dangerous to the life of your computer.

Cheers :beer:

I know for a fact that they are being made en mass now.
You can pick up generic pc2700 today with high qualtiy winbond 5ns chips.
These will become the standard by April.
