View Full Version : Celeron 900 Abit Be6-II OC
Hi!
I just upgraded my system with a boxed celly 900. After raiding all the info I could from this superb site I just had to try some OC.
I pushed the FSB to 110 and the system is running stable with the stock fan/heatsink. I have used some heavy CPU-testing utilities for testing. Now I have some questions:
1. Can I assume the temp indicator on my motherboard is showing the correct value (47-49ºC) since I´m using an Abit BE6-2 rev 1.x with a slot 1 converter(MSI 6905 Master)? Is this temp too high?
2. Will I damage the CPU if I try to push the FSB a bit more without replacing the stock fan/heatsink ?
I´m a newbie so please forgive if I´m wasting bandwith with stupid questions.

Watch out for your voltage. To not apply too much voltage or it will burn your chip. I think you still can push your FSB higher, especially with better HSF.
Just download MotherBoard Monitor to check with your temperatures. I think it helps.
I think your temperature is a bit hight, 47-47? Celcius?
Thanks for your reply!
Yes, the temp reaches 49 Celcius after some serious QuakeIII gaming.
Still I´m not sure if the info under the PC Health optiion of my CMOS-menu is showing the correct temp since I´m using a Slot 1 slocket.
Should I consider buying some case fans or a better fan/heatsink for the CPU?
thanks again!

As nuciles suggested, get MBM to check your temps,
they do seem a bit high. Also...... what is your core
voltage. That can cause high temps.
I will check my core voltage as soon as I get home. Think it is 1.75 but I´m not sure. What is the best value for my celly2(900@1000)?
Im a newbie also but, everyone here helped my out alot and just a few days ago I got my new celly 900 up to 1ghz. :D My temp while under severe stress is only 32C so ya i think you got to worry about that heat. :( you got the same FSB as I do at 110 so im sure it's your voltage. I also niticed that with my comp if I take the side panel off I drop about 3-5 degrees. :D
Those motherboard thermisters can be a little inaccurate, but you're still running too hot. I'd work on getting those temps down a little lower. A new good CPU cooler installed using a good thermal paste should show lots of cooling improvements.
I´m really amazed about the generosity of this forum - thanks all!
Any suggestions to heatsink/fan that fits in combination with a slot1 socket converter and a BE6-2 mobo?
I'm a little behind the times on what works great with socket 370 CPUs on a slotket, but about a year ago one of the best coolers for that application was the Alpha PEP66.

Remember! with artic silver II.
Alpha PEPT66 was specialy designed for slotkets - recommended.
Use ASII with it.
Lap it to get off some temperatures and get case cooling equivilant of intake and exhaust ..
I just ordered some extra fans for my case + new HSF and some ceramic based Arctic Alumina (reviews: http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_alumina_reviews.htm ). Hoping to do some serious oc .
