Hi all,

I am going to be unlocking my second rig XP system. It is an XP 1500+ on an Epox 8KHA+ motherboard. My primary system XP was unlocked using superglue(crazy glue) but I did not think this was the best material to fill in the pits. I have been doing some reading of late and I reckon I'll fill in my second CPU L1 pits with nail varnish. However is this material conductive???? Secondly has anyone tried this method of covering the pits??? Please reply ASAP since I will be unlocking my chip later thus evening. Thanks for your help!!!

Permanent - Tamiya 2 Part Putty. 2 sticks of clay like substance mix/twist together then rub into the pits/slits of your XPs. Wait a few minutes to harden then bridge L1 dots with conductive ink penn. Clean & easy:beer:

Reversable - Chemask (http://www.chemtronics.com/catalog/catalog.cgi?action=list_products&category=9). Squirt it on wait a few minutes then bridge L1 dots. Simple & fast. Great for soldering/volt mod jobs too:beer

I saw a guy filling the pits w/ bubble gum, dunno if u should try this though, but the gum isn't conductive, I think...

nail polish takes a long time to dry...dun think will conduct electricity though.....
try to run a multimeter on your gf nail with the polish on it and test

Nail varnish isnt conductive but you may find the solvent in the conductive paint will soften it. I

You'll also find that the tiniest drop of acetone will dissolve nail varnish, which makes cleaning up any excess hard to do. I gave up trying with it and used superglue instead.

Superglue is better because although acetone gets it off it does it a lot more slowly so it easier to remove the excess.

The big problem with superglue is its hard to see, I havent figured out if its possible to colour it with anything or not

5 minute epoxy works good, let it sit for 30 minutes to get real hard tho.

What about candle wax or crayons?

Iīve used crayons twice, works just perfectly! I donīt believe there is any other way that is easier..

I've used both methods and had mixed results with the super glue.
Here's a copy of a reply that I posted to an earlier thread. I hope this helps;

>>After successfully unlocking several DURONs and T-BIRDs, I had a bit of a problem with my XP. I originally used super glue and a defroster repair kit. My first attempt yielded results similar to yours, I was able to get most multipliers but I wasn't satisfied. I redid them again that night and still wasn't satisfied. I think the late hour was taking it's toll by then.

A couple of days later I took the time to do it again, this time with better results. I decided to try something other than super glue and settled on clear nail polish. The nail polish is much easier to remove in the event of a mistake. I still used the defogger kit and after completing the "painting" I put a coat of polish over the bridges to help insure the integrity down the road. The results this time were, every multiplier between 6X and 13X with all of the .5's in between. One problem I have is that both the 14X and the 15X show as 10X, maybe just a BIOS issue.

Make sure that you have a strong light and examine the traces from several angles to make sure that they are complete. The use of a good magnifying glass is a prerequisite given the size of the bridges of this generation AMD processor. <<

Good Luck!

Just finished unlocking my XP1500+ with Tip Ex and conductive sliver ink to join the L1 bridges and it was an success. Im now running this processor @ 1.7Ghz. In my opinion this is the easiest way to unlock XP's.

I used silicone thermal grease like the article at vr-zone. you can smear it all over the bridges, then rub it away with a pencil eraser and the pits are perfectly filled. Plus it isnt permanent, you can clean it off with acetone or alcohol.

I used defogger repair paint to bridge the L1s.

crayon;) just rub it in and wipe it off. got my 1700xp unlocked tonight on the first attempt. all multi's work. used defogger paint to connect the l1's
