well, it is multiplayer (something I've been saying needs to be in the elder scrolls games for a really long time now) so that is a plus, BUT, its just not the same game. Never played it, but from the things I've read and seen, the graphics are subpar for an Elder Scrolls game, and its not free roaming. I mean, that was the whole draw for me, was the ability to do whatever, whenever, however I pleased. and it looked pretty :P

it was also published in 1997 (same era as System Shock 2 and our first mouthwatering team fortress 2 screens for those that can remember that far back) so i dont see why you would be surprised it has subpar graphics in comparison to the most recent elder scrolls games.
As a matter of fact elder scrolls predates this game by another half decade with the very first installment being developed in '92 as per:

i never played these personally but you can certainly see how even nearly 15 years ago bethesda was pushing the envelop for a new kind of CRPG. This _was_ the hayday of the much more wildly popular japaneese styled console turn based RPG's mind you.
If anyone is so inclined it seems bethesda has released the original Elder Scrolls as a freeware direct download from their website.

this is a dos based game so keep that in mind when trying to get it to work :)

I know. I've played the first 2, as well as the latest 2, and I still say that this has subpar graphics, even for '99. that being said, it still doesn't alleviate the fact that this is the narrowest of all the games they've released (in storyline).
Redguard had probably the best storyline of all the elder scrolls games. That and it was swashbucklin fun ;)

imo half life was the most overrated game in history and the graphics were quite bad even for its time as well imo, yet everyone praises it. I kept getting stuck by the game not being clear what objectives or where you were sopposed to go and never even finished it. But the mods that came out later were good. Anyway, the psp one was also sopposed to be a dungeon crawler and almost all psp rpgs are yet no one complains what gives? (and they complained it got cancelled).

also the first quake without any mods or anything even on a video card had horrible graphics yet it is also praised. It is so ugly trying to play it the pixels are literally visible. Do you see visible pixels in any of the screenshots of this game?
I've played Battlespire (actually, all the Elder Scrolls games). I enjoyed it, picked it up after I finished Daggerfall way back in the day.

I know it's your opinion but.. wow. Half-Life came out only a year after Quake 2, the engine it used, and for the time I thought the graphics were great. We're talking a little more than ten years ago at this point, and people are still playing it and it's mods with those same graphics today.

Er... really? Quake was released in 1996. The other main FPS style game at the time was Duke Nukem 3D. These were DOS games... however, if you're trying to play Quake and want higher resolution, use the Doomsday engine located here:
http://www.doomsdayhq.com/
It also works with all the old Dooms, Hexen, Heretic, etc. Any of the id/Raven games on those engines that utilized WAD files.

cool engine, btw thanks but I know there are many quake engines problem with most of them is the option menu really sucks and you cant easily do mouselook and upgrade resolutions without playing with shortcuts or command files adn such.

Backbreaker, seriously. Find the edit button, and use it.
This isnt the only thread youve double and even triple posted in.
Kingpin came out a good deal later then half life 1. They matured the engine quite a bit.

and just because the graphics arent the best doesnt mean there areny any texture enhancing mods out there or other graphical type mods.
Half-Life was a great game. I played it for years, and loved the mods for it like They Hunger and Natural Selection. Yeah it used a modified Quake I engine but they did a lot of work on it and it looked great when it came out. Then when Blueshift came out they upgraded all the character and weapon models in the game.

Same goes for HL1.
