I'm eventually going to build a bong, and I'm a little worried about dust getting in through the intake. Would it be feasible to make a sort of static dust filter, and if so, how would I charge it?

Since a high cfm 120mm fan gave me problems with the water 'sprites' blowing out the top, I just used a piece of furnace air filter over the fan.
It stoped the dust, and slowed down the cfm enough to stop the liquid from blowing out the top, without having to do a voltage mod on the fan.
You could also put a piece of scotch brite pad in the top of the bong, so that dust couldn't fall in while it isn't running.

electrostatic filters take a high voltage, low current DC power supply to power them. You could take apart a garage sale special air ioniser to power it. But don't touch the filter while it's running, it can give ya a good poke. It won't kill, but it's not pleasant.
