I am on Awakening and the game continually crashes. I made it this far without any problems. I am now unable to play for more than a couple minutes. At first it seemed guaranteed to crash when using the scope, as I progressed through the level it got worse and worse. I turned down AA and then the detail on everything, it did nothing to help.

I am at the part where you meet the Korean leader guy. It crashes within a very short while. $1800 on a new tower and this what I get I bought Warhead but wanted to go back through the first one. From what I see on the forums here it seems to be the game.

I have up to date drivers globally, so not sure what else to try. Also when it crashes my whole system goes down, restarts aand comes back up to the black and white menu asking you how you want to restart Windows.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

You said your drivers are updated, but is your game updated with the latest patch? version 1.2.1?

If not update with the 1.2 patch, then install the 1.2.1 hotfix. (although I think the hotfix was a fix for online play, so 1.2 may be enough)

Is there anything in the Windows Event Log when it crashes?

Do you have your system overclocked?

Crysis responds very sensible to overclocks, especially for the Graphics card (but that doesn't usually result in a whole system crash).

It is so sensible that it often crashes systems that are rock solid with the standard stability tests.

Ok now I am not so sure that something isn't wrong. I installed Warhead, played for awhile and the same thing is happening. I played for probably an hour or so. It crashed when I had my weapon in scope mode, this seemed to cause most of the crashes with Crysis. I have it patched as well. The screen freezes and the sound stutters screen goes black, flickers with sound still stuttering, then restarts.

Maybe I should run Memtest86 and see if I have issues with the RAM I have.

Any other suggestions are appreciated.

I've said it before and I'll say it again "Crysis does NOT like the 4800 series." simple as that. something between the game and CCC causes a massive memory leakage. we've got multiple threads about it on here.

I don't have a Vista machine in front of me, but I think you can get to it through Control Panel > Administrative Tools.

Have you played any other games on your new system? Try playing another (non-Crysis) game for an hour or so and see if you have any crashes with it. That will give us a pretty good indicator whether the problem is Crysis-related or machine-related.

Also, I didn't have any problems with Warhead on my 4870, I haven't tried the original Crysis though.

no word on an actuall fix, no. also, The original Crysis was the one I was talking about. I haven't played warhead. There are lots of people who say that you might be able to fix it if you uninstall your ccc, do a driversweep and then install JUST the drivers, but that doesn't always work, if ever. some people say that if you reinstall and start all over it fixes it (I know, not what you wanted to here).

NOTE: I have NOT tried it with the new 9.1 CCC. I uninstalled crysis a gave it to a friend a while ago since I couldn't get past the last 2 levels due to crashes.

Ok now it just hard crashed with Company of Heroes. Any one think my PSU is under powering my system?

I have posted another thread,

http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=594941

I am leaning it towards being either a PSU, or Video Card issue, I am leaning towards the latter at this point.

After working with New Egg, they were able to get a Rep to call me from Diamond. Too late however, as I found a solution. I was able to enter the ATI advanced control center and first I clocked the card down, and it ran stable, then I clocked back to 800Mhz, and turned the fan control up to 35% and now it seems to run fine no crashes since.

I would like to post some contact data for Diamond, maybe it will help someone that also made the mistake of buying a product from these dead beats. This rep took an a$$ chewing from me, and to his credit was apologetic and gave me his direct contact info. He claims they are understaffed and blah blah blah...

Thanks for all help, the card seems to be stable now.
