I feel like upgrading to a 790i board, and DDR3 RAM doesn't look really worth it, but, how come as the Mhz of the Ram gets higher, the Latency also gets higher, so would buying supposedly slower ram work at the same speed as faster ram? because the faster ram has a higher latency?

I really dont know much about DDR3 Ram so if im going about this the wrong way tell me plz:beer:

Also, whats the cheapest (and effective) RAM for the 790i? please suggest cheap 2x2GB packs and 2x1GB packs, still unsure whether i want 2 or 4 GB.

Thanks:beer:

Can you get Supertalent memory where you are?

Generally the performance gain from higher frequencies outweighs the performance loss of the higher latensies.

As always, it really depends on the benchmark or application you use to test the speed.

You should look at getting 1600 RAM, seems to be the sweet spot IMO

Do you use a 64bit operating system?

Sure!

IMO = in my opinion
IMHO = in my honest opinion
AFAIK = as far as i know
FTW = "for the win" or "fold the way"
IIRC = if i remember correctly

to name a few.

If you are on a budget you shouldn't really look at DDR3 unless the motherboard you want only comes in DDR3 flavours...
