Will a cheap raid card work better then Nvidia on board raid?
Still having problems with the raid on a MSI kn9 sli platinum for AM2.
Thinking that something like this might work a little better.
Ideas? Or something in this price range. Heck will it work better then ICH9 for intel?

Nope, as that is a PCI slot card.........bandwidth limited to 127MB/s or so. You want a PCI-e card, which almost any will be better than NVidia's onboard RAID.

Ok to see any perk I need to run it on a PCI-e. Thats nots a issue being it has a extra PCI-e.

Ideas for cheap cards?

Cheap cards like that don't have their own CPUs and still use your CPU for the raid, so most likely there would be no difference unless you go into the expensive hardware raid cards.

if they are using it for raid 0 or raid 1 it wont matter, it will use very little cpu usage.

So is that just the PCI thats limited to 127mb/s? Is that the same for the small pci-e slot on the board?

FOr the MSI problem you're having. Did you update the BIOS?

So is that just the PCI thats limited to 127mb/s? Is that the same for the small pci-e slot on the board? A 1x PCIe slot is 250MB/s bandwidth if v.1 or 500MB/s if v.2. Both would be fine for your application.
