posting this for a buddy on TPU

"As many of you know my 13 year old daughter Stephanie has Hodgkins Stage 4B Cancer. I have supported Folding@Home for over 5 years myself. Well this month I want people to Fold for Stephanie.

I announced this contest 2 days ago. Since then I have been contacted by NVIDIA and others that want to donate stuff also. I will update prizes as I find out about them. The community support for my daughter and my family is great.

So here is the new GRAND PRIZE: GTX 285 Signed by Jen-Hsun Huang – Co-Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of NVIDIA.

All other prizes will be random drawn to people Folding for Stephanie. Other prizes so far:

1 XFX GTX285
1 2*1Gb of DDR3 Crucial Ballistix PC3-10600 From Niko at www.rbmods.com. He will ship worldwide.
2 Maxtill G-Pad Mouse Pads From Michael Phrakaysone at www.ModSynergy.com. He will ship USA/Canada.

At this time I can only ship to USA/Canada unless I get a sponsor that can ship outside of this area.

Here are the rules:

Now here is what you have to do.

1. Fold for Bjorn3D Team 41608.

2. If you Folding handle is Rob for the month Fold under a new name for the as Rob-Stephanie.

3. This will let people checking our team stats see your are Folding for my daughter.

4. Register on our forums with you normal name with out -Stephanie and make at least 2 post so I can notify you if you win.

I want to thank everyone that does this since it may help find a cure to this disease and others like it."

I believe it is for February... the stats for Team Bjorn3D users are showing many, many "-Stephanie" users. In that respect it is good timing, since it won't interfere with our Team 32 contest. :)

*AND* I'm also not going to b!tch, moan, and gripe about another forum's contest being posted on our Forum, as has been the reception to many of my posts on other forums about our contests... and in many cases my posts were deleted. Poor form IMO.

What I do want to point out is how easy it seems for folks who own hardware review sites to get sweet @ss donations with what appears to be very little effort! :p And I also want to point out that your teammates have put up their own hard earned money (in the past and present) to have prizes for our Team 32 contests. Please continue to support our contests, as well as others... I know we're not giving away the latest, cutting-edge GTX285... but it's still a nice prize. :)

Thank you Team 32 for your support, past and present!

i was told to post it here and have posted it on XS as well with no issues at all. if it is a problem feel free to delete it. i figured some people would like to have a feel for how this really does affect everyday life for some people and making a little girls life more bearable knowing she is the reason even more people are folding just to help people like her and many others.

Not at all... that would be in poor taste. Again, as much as it might read like such... that was not a moan and gripe post. Just a small reminder to our folks that Team 32 supports Team 32, not Jen-Hsun Huang. ;) Now if that contest were to coincide with ours, yes... that might not be the best way to promote our contest. That's the only reason I would object to any other contest posts on this forum.

If people from Team 32 choose to participate, that's their decision. It's a really nice prize(s), which I see is drawing quite a bit of attention from the community in large. I would expect no less.

In the end... the results go to the same big server bucket at Stanford. I hope their contest turns out great! :)

I'm working on something big. I started folding cause my grandma died. I'm working on something that'll allow me to compete w/ Haralam and Chase. I may need the time in this summer to fulfill it.
FOLD WITH EVERYTHING YOU GOT GUYS. TEST YOUR OVERCLOCKING SKILLS TO THE MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Btw when you got in touch w/ Nivida did they say they fold or donate money to folding? If fold, did they say how many cpus they would put into it? (and video cards)
