I think as long as the disc is closed (like with cd-r) any dvd rom will read them. I have a program called Nero Info tool that says mine is capable of reading them.
can I download that program? and the DVD-RAM doesn't get closed like a DVD-R or a DVD-RW it is treated more like a zip drive.

Right here (http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroInfoTool_100.zip) ... Never used a DVD ram before... didn't know that.
i think that if DVD RAM uses UDF then any UDF and DVD capable drive can read it.

dvd-ram discs are like those old 5 1/2 inch disks. Basically its a dvd in a little plastic wrapper so i dont think there are some dvd-roms that will read dvd-ram disks, if any...

i think you're dealing with some pretty non-conventional dvd-ram disks then. the ones on the market right now, meant to be used to the new "dvd burners" that are popping up in mac's and new systems, look basically like cd-r's, and are treated in the same manner. using software, you can burn 'movies' onto dvd-ram that will play in any normal, home dvd player (or computer for that matter).

No i just think ur talking about DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs. There is a difference between DVD-RAM, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-R.
DVDRAms can be treated like hard disks almost, whereas DVD-Rs , DVD-RWs etc have to be fixated when complete.

a DVD-RAM is like a cartridge, not a disc if i can remember right. You might be thinking of a DVD-RW which is different. All DVD-roms should read DVD-RW's but none will read the DVD-RAM.

Right but the non dubble sided ones can be taken out of the cartridge. That is why I was wondering if any DVD-ROMS could read them. Other wise there would be no reason to remove it from the cartrige.
