View Full Version : pc speaker makes the sound of an ambulance when i boot with my 1000e
this is the first time ive heard that sound, lol.
i just got my p3 1000e today and i put it in my asus slocket and hooked up my swiftech to it and try and install it but computer doesnt boot, it makes the sound of an ambulance, that cant be good.
i have the voltage set to cpu defualt on my slocket
any ideas?
I had that once, usually its the speaker in the case where you hook up with the switches to the front panel(Power button, reset etc.)
Probably means the temperature is too high remount the heatsink and make sure the probe is not in a way and shine it up to a light and make sure you don't see any light between it.
Yodums
lmao, temp isnt too high, its hooked up to a swiftech heatsink and pelt. theres 100% contact between the cpu and the coldplate (i can see the indent in the as2 when i took it off).
bender told me the slocket might not be coppermine compatable.
does the asus S370-D slocket work with coppermines?

It seems like I read here that 1 of the Asus slotkets wouldn't run Cumine procs, but I don't remember which 1 it was. I'm running an Abit slotket 3 with my 1000E with no problems.
with my luck i got that one slocket :p
where can i find the abit one? i ran a search on pricewatch for it but nothing came up

I haven't seen an Abit slotket from a vendor in several months. I've heard that you can find them on ebay though.
abit Slotket III the way to go..
Ebay as well I recommend.
What mobo are you using? If you want to run a P3 or celeron II 1Gig processor on an older coppermine compatible BX board be sure that you get a 'cc0' stepping (CPUID 0686). Most BX boards will not support a 'cd0' stepping coppermine (CPUID 068A) because the BIOS will not recognize a CPUID 068A processor. The Abit BE6-II BX board is an exception and does support 'cd0' processors. Check with your vendor first and verify the s-spec from the intel table to make sure you are buying a 'cc0' CPU if you want to run it on an older Cumine compatible BX board. Note: 815EP chipset boards like Abit ST6 and ASUS CUSL/TUSL support all P3 steppings including 'cd0'.
P3 s-spec table (http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sspec/p3p.htm)
asus p3v4x
and i have the 1006 beta 2 bios.
it should work but i think its the slocket, the slocket doesnt support coppermine processors.
im having it modded so it will :)
and i didnt want a cC0 cpu, i got a cD0 cuz they overclock mad high :)

I wouldn't worry about the board not recognizing a cD0 stepping too much. I ran this cD0 proc in my old BH6 rev 1.01 board with no problems whatsoever and that old board isn't even supposed to be able to run a Cumine P3. That old board was 2 1/2 years old when I tried it. I'd still probably have that old board if it would have had a 1/4 pci divider.

Also remember that he has a P3V4X which is a Via chipset and officially supports 133mhz bus, i have no doubt it supports cDos...
If your using a peltier make sure you don't have the peltier connected backwards and make sure that it is in fact recieving power and is working. If a peltier isn't working it will act as an insulator.

Also sounds like you are using too much A.S.
Remember you want to fill in micro grooves/scratches..and a razor thin coating will suffice.
I usaly only aply a coat to one side...h.s or cpu..not both.
You can be amazed in the diff in temps when AS is aplied evenly.
BTW maybe you should post the asus sloket mod when it's finished...it might help a lot of people...but warn them also that the mod would probably void their warantee;)

Well, my 6ba+III is running a cD0 800eb like crazy..(155*6), i still got room to run it higher, but that is the max fsb of the board:p

Please disregard this information I posted yesterday. After hearing that a 'cd0' does in fact work on a BH6 and 6BA+III, I stand corrected. Thanks muddocktor and tainice for clearing that up.
