I have 2 36 gig raptors in raid 0 right now. Well I have 2 more that I can add. Is it really going to be worth it? Any gain other then space?
And this is a noob question but I take it that I have to set up my raid again if I add the new drives right?
The board this is going on is a Abit IP35 pro.

Depends on what you do. If you do a lot of work with large files it may help. If you're gaming, running office apps and internet browsing, not likely. And back to if you do work with large files, you'll get the most performance by running two RAID0 arrays and using one for the source files and other for the destination.

i dont think i would trust it personally :) remember, one drive fail's there goes your array
but tusken is right, depends on what you're doing more importantly.

If you do a search through the main Matrix sticky, I did some comparisons on single drive-2 x raid0-3 x raid0 using those drives. Might help influence your decision, but frankly... I was very disappointed with their performance... I think it was simply down to the small platter size to begin with.

Ok then what I will do is just give them to my old man. and to the hard drives bombing MEH whatever. If I was worried about it I would run raid 1.
Thanks guys!

If you're buying new drives... you can't go past the WD 640 Blacks at the moment.
