Here is my latest build,

i went with the antec p182 case because it's reviewed to be pretty much silent so far as a case goes.

the radiator is a 500MM XSPC passive radiator
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5746/ex-res-120/XSPC_Passive_500mm_Reservoir_-_Black.html?tl=g30c95s708

One loop so far, to the CPU (q6600) and back threw the pump, (thermaltake p500) but I have plans to add a second rad next to the existing one in the future, hence the placement of the brackets and the fittings.

The entire loop took nearly the ENTIRE 1000ml bottle of coolant!!!

it was a bit of a pain at first, overtightned the fittings on the radiator, causing a little leakage at first, but thats fixed now.

working the air bubbles out was a real pain aswell, because it's on the case panel, so I had to keep it upright so as to not let in more air, while working the air bubbles out.

Sufficed to say this was difficult. More over I was using a trash CPU in the socket while removing the air, powering it on to have the pump run while working with the waterblock, and i fried the board or at least the socket,
now all the fans power on including the video card, but no bios or any beeps.

(learned later that you can just trick the power supply into powering on w/o the motherboard........ tear. )

So I've ordered another board and hopefully my CPU isnt fried.

it's been a rather painfull build but a learning experence, this was my first non-bundled water cooling build.

My next step after the board is an additional evga 9600gt card for SLI, and does anyone know where I could find a waterblock for that card?
I've looked arround and cant really find anything. lots for the 9800's tho.

well please comment and or suggest.

also I will post more pics when the new board finally arrives friday, the inside is a mess from my trouble shooting the board meltdown.

looks good but i would never touch that res.

also when your pump dies in the next month or 2 i would get a Swiftech MCP355 (with XSPC top) or MCP655.

stay away from all thermaltake stuff as far as water cooling goes.

as for blocks for the 9600gts, they don't really need it (pending on your temps, what are they?) but i don't think they have full coverage blocks. you can get a Swiftech MCW60 rev2 core only block though.

You sure that thing is intended to run alone as a radiator?

It's called "XSPC Passive 500mm Reservoir - Black" and it's made out of Aluminum.

Whats wrong with the res? From what I've read it cools pretty efficently.

So the thermaltake stuff is no bueno? I just looked into it because I read that it was pretty quiet.

The temps on the cards are fine, however the fans on them run pretty loud and it sorta clashes with my whole quiet computing formula.

here's the link for the res reviews they were on the silver version of the rad rather than the one i linked to previously.

my 'beef' with the rad so to speak is that its aluminum. mixing copper with aluminum is a no-no.

and yes the Swiftech MCP655/D5 is a quiet pump, i'm not sure how it is compared to thermaltake pump but it will last alot longer.

ahhh galvanic corrosion ehh?

The fluid supposedly has additives to prevent that.

thanks for the info about thermaltake tho.

Also what sort of calculations go into how many loops can be run with a single pump,

I ask because i plan on two gpu waterblocks and an additional 500mm rad and wonder at what point the pump will be insufficent.

is an additional pump the answer or just a larger one?

im guesing a larger one.

you can never prevent it, (outside of not mixing metals) but you can slow it down.

and those aren't proper rads so i would look into actual rads that need fans. you can use silent yate loons if your worried about noise.

and i would change out the pump for a Swiftech MCP655 OR Swiftech MCP355 with XSPC aftermarket top. they will handle what your asking.

cool, thankyou for the advice I will post some temps and numbers later this weekend when I get my mobo set up.

I would just mod the pump so that you can plug it into a wall outlet OR your power supply. It's probably the simplest mod you can do (besides pencil mods.)

I'm OVER the idea of "tricking power supplies"... and bumping them... and all that nonsense. I'm using an aquarium pump now and there's no way in hell I'm ever going back to using the PSU to control my water pump. (I'll probably be switching to a D5 at some point for the quiet factor. At that point I'll splice the cable, put a resistor or something on it, and connect it to a three prong.)

Nice thats a great idea, do you just leave your rig on or unplug it at night?

What do you think of this block?

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=240&products_id=23436

It's about the only full block I have found for the 9600gt. I would like the ram cooled with out the need for stick on sinks and it looks cooler! lol

What would you recomend for a CPU block? right now I'm using the block that came with my Gigabyte kit but could most likely do better.

I really like the EK full cover blocks. I've been thinking about getting one for my 8800GTS 640.

As for a CPU cooler... the Apogee GTZ is the only thing I would even consider.

It's sixteen layers of AWESOME.

Done and done. out of curiosty does inlet outlet specification on a waterblock make much of a difference?
