Ok here's the deal.

I have 1 win2k machine here and 2 98se machines.
When I setup the network I had to set a password to allow the other machines to connect to the win2k machine.
Well I have forgotten the password and I don't know where to look to even change it. It also makes it difficult when I lan as my friends are also unable to access the goodies on my drive, I always have to copy and paste onto their drives for them.
Whenever they try to connect to my PC it asks for the username and password...which I have forgotten.
The 98se machines can access the 2K machine fine as they have the password stored somewhere in their systems.

Any Ideas on where to look or what to do??
Cheers.

Well as far as I know I'd need a password cracker?
I have a guest account enabled but that still won't let anybody other than my other 2 pc's connect to the 2K machine.

So I need to either remember the password (not going to happen) Or crack the password.
I dont know where to look for the password though.

Are you after the admin password or the users password.

If it is the user one then, login as as admin delete the user(s), and recreate them on the 2k machine. :D

It's fixed now, I found a program that decrypted my .pwl file.
Thanks Guys!

if you want to share files with win98 machines, just enable your guest account and do not have a password for it.

to do this, go to "Control Panel", then "Users and Passwords", then the "Advanced" tab, and finally the "Advanced" button. You should have just opened a window entitled "Local Users and Groups." Under "Users" double click on "guest" and ensure that the account is enabled. Finally, make sure that when you share, you enable guest access to the folder(s) that are shared, both under sharing permissions and permissions on the "advanced" tab.
