aight, sort of a weird questioin here. i have a little lan at home that has about 5 computers on it connected to the internet through and isdn router.
my little brother and i play diablo 2, and when my little sister gets online, the network bottlenecks everytime, and next thing u know, are characters are dead... is there a command i can send out to flood the network to where no one can get hardly any internet access, much less send anything via the lan. ive tried pinging her computer with large packets, but that doesnt seem to work too well. and i dont wanna just turn the router off, that's to obvious.
anyhow, i just wanna mess with her. she lives on the internet, and when i wanna finally play, she wont get off.
thx
ok, have the same problem here....well you can do it in sevral ways...DOS attack, although you have to have a lot of bandwith...but if I were you I would set up your router to only give her so mutch bandwith...that's what a router can be used as...If you need help doing that, just post again. But if you want to create a really stupid error she wouldn't find in 3 hours, switch the cable to a roll over or cross over cable...but the possiblitys are endless to bring someones computer to a halt/ slow... I would look into programing your router to allowing so mutch banwith
Most home routers, especially older isdn ones don't support bandwidth limiting. Are you playing Diablo over the INternet or on your lan? You could just get another switch and plug your 2 computers into it and then have it uplink into the isdn router. THen, when you wanted to play you could simply kill the link between the switch and the isdn router and wouldn't bother your sister at all.

ok I just did this same thing to my sisters comp:D
all you do is have to get on your sisters computer and set the MTU to a really small number, like 30 or somewhere around there
you can find how to do this here (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_registry_advanced.shtml)
it wont cut her off from the internet but will make her connection really slow because your limiting her bandwidth to that number
to see if it works you should go to dslreports.com test your connection before you did the the tweak and after you did it so you can see if anything changed
my sister went from 1500 mtu to 128 mtu now my connection doesnt lag when she get on her AOL messenger
