Hi all,

I just picked up that volcano 7 fan. It is certainly huge to say the least. My case has pretty good air flow, 3 case fans, 1 PCI slot cooler, 1 Hard drive cooler, 1 more fan in the cdrom area too.

Anyway, I thought it was wierd that my temps are so hot given all the aircooling.

Now here is the wierd thing. The volcano 7 comes with some temp sensor that kicks the fan from 3000 RPM to 5000 RPM when the temps go from 25C to 36C.

The fan sits at about 3900RPM when the Asus probe reads 52C. When I finished playing tribes2 for an hour the temps read 59C & the fan was at 5000 RPM.

Now the temp says 55C & the fan is running at 4700RPM.

This is making me thing that maybe the processor is running much cooler than the Asus probe says it is.

This is with an AVA-266E btw.

Any thoughts on the actual temperature?

Thanks,
Rich

that little probe isnt on the cpu, its measuring the air temp. most people cut it off and reconnect the wires to make it run at full speed all the time.

I've been experimenting!
I got my XP 1600+ to 1575Mhz rock solid stable just by doing FSB to 150 and increase volts to 1.825 with current CPU temp at 33'c - according to my A7V266e probe!? under normal load (about 20-30%) is that a good, bad or normal OC for 220W Pelt assisted water cooling?
