I Pledge to...
1. Increase my folding production.
2. Fold 24/7.
3. Maintain my Current folding production.
4. Not let a single Mhz go to waste.
5. Get a friend or family member interested in FAH.
6. Install Linux on My main rig for a production boost.
I pledge to maintain my level of folding.
I pledge to fold 24/7
and I pledge not to let a single MHz go to waste.
I don't need to pledge to borg more for t32, that's a way of life.
Depending on budget considerations I may be replacing my 8400 with a q6600, and dumping my ati in favor of a Nvidia.
I pledge to...
2. Continue folding 24/7
3. Maintain my current production
4. Not let a single MHz go to waste

O.K., I've been folding in 'minimal' mode for a while to save on the electric bill(only $255 this month), but I've secretly been yearning for an excuse to throw my Quad Squad into full production(just like old times)....this is IT!

In fact, I just replaced my ATI 4670 with two 8800GTS G92's today. It appears that my PPD has increased by 6-10k depending on the WU.

I'll make a folding rig out of some benching hardware. Probably a GTX 280 and QX9650.
Need to do a bit of reading first, see how to best set this up, I'm way out of the loop :-/

Yes, you will get the best PPD by running dual VM-SMP clients. Make sure that you setup the GPU client with a higher priority in the FAH configuration to maximize your GPU PPD.

A great place to start is this thread http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=571616
Post# 1 is for if you want to setup a linux client(it's a bit faster). otherwise use post 3 for windows setup.
Post# 3 will walk you through the SMP install which will make full use of your quadcore.
post# 4 which will walk you through which drivers and stuff you need for the GPU client.
I'll boost production by 30,000 ppd.

Pics (and details) or shens :>
It'll be a Q9550 running 2 x Linux SMP VMs + 2 x GTX295. Should be good for about 30,000 ppd on a2s + 384 point GPU WUs, more if its loaded with the 353 pointers, less if it gets loaded with 511 pointers. I'm waiting on the availability notice from newegg on the GTX295s.

Provided Comcast fixes my connection tomorrow I will be back up and running with my two G92s, and hopefully a pair of 4850s as well. If they can't, then my production amongst all OCF projects may remain flat-lined for a while longer. :(

Running the QX9650 at 3.6 and the GTX 280 at like 650/1300/1150. I'm trying to keep it low due to heat/noise, but knowing me I'll have it at like 4.2ghz and 800/1600/1300 by tomorrow

If anyone knows where I can find a nicely used 128sp G92 card (edit: that requires only one PCI-E power connector) I've got an empty slot that could use a card, gotta be a 128sp card though... so it can run along side the 8800GTS G92 that's already in that machine.
I may just have to breakdown and buy a 9800GTX+ like we're giving away for march madness - it really kind sucks, I've got two, opps- I mean one ;), sweet card here just collecting dust. :D
I pledge to maintain current PPD...and very sorry I can not do more.

I have been looking to join a team and can donate about 60k a day now. A thing i have noticed on the fourms here is that you don't have the team member number or "join us" posted to make it easy or newbies?? just a suggestion that might bring more in this group. Just a link to " Join US now" would have had me in already.

Just look for anyone who has a signature that says "I'm a Team32 Folding Mentor" like harlam357 above. They'll getcha sorted.
I've just ordered a couple of 9800GTs and a copy of XP x64 to convert one of my native Linux folders to XP/VM/2xLinux SMP + 2 x GPU. Should add another 9000 ppd net on average, much more on the 353 pointers..

A bunch of MPC team members pledged to fold for that username for a week to honor them for some reason that I don't know. Bottom line is that it shouldn't increase their overall team PPD.
Ill run it for a bit. Havent folded in awhile but Ill run it for a day or two :D

I'll pull a couple rigs off Rosetta to help out.

oh, now people are starting to care. I was worried when they were like a month away and I just joined the team.
I already did most of that stuff, so I'll:
1. Increase my folding production, by changing a WinSMP to 2xVM
2. Continue to fold 24/7.
3. Maintain my Current folding production.
Can't say I won't let any Mhz go to waste :(. I tried to get this P4 1.6GHz folding, but it gave me 68PPD and used 150 watts (diskless, too!)

1. Add another GPU folding.
2. Add 5 more folding via the XP client install
3. keep them all folding 24/7
4. Figure out why VMware keeps crashing on this quad and set up an Ubuntu/SMP instance on it. (SOMEBODY GIVE ME SOME POINTERS...)
5. Install three more VMware/Ubuntu/SMP instances on my other dual core GPU folders.
6. Set a personal goal of increasing my 24 hr average to 40k points.

Well I PM'd Computekinc.us with his estimated 60K PPD and he responded and it sounds like he is getting some GPU clients running for T32 this weekend.
One other thought, how can we go about some recruiting outside of the FOLDing section of ocforums? I'm sure some of our members would like to back our efforts to hold off MPC.
A pair of 9800GT arrived Friday, which will add ~9Kppd to the farm early next week.

Well, ok that is stretching things a bit. There are 7 in this room, and I am sweating like a crack dealer at a July tent revival..

Well, some of the OCF Rosetta team members are already on the job, either because they already split their time between F@H and Rosetta, or because they saw this thread and decided to help out.
I have already made a post in the Rosetta Status thread, so that one's covered. I say we need to get some of those hardcore SETI freaks out here. ;)

Alright I am going to throw the 9550 on the fire full tilt for a little bit. I already have the gpu folding for the last week or so. Will I get as many ppd on windows smp or do I need to do linux smp but if I do linux smp how do I do the gpu?
You could install linux on VM's.. GPU would still run on windows.. There is a guide in the sticky..

well I got a Linux SMP client up for now, won't be up forever though as its using half the ram from my main rig, its putting down between 900 -2200 depending on the work units, plus my usual ~500-1000 PPD from my regular rigs.

I have been looking to join a team and can donate about 60k a day now. A thing i have noticed on the fourms here is that you don't have the team member number or "join us" posted to make it easy or newbies?? just a suggestion that might bring more in this group. Just a link to " Join US now" would have had me in already.
I'll write up a Join Us sticky for this forum - as a new member what would you want to see in this sticky? I'm thinking:
- Team name/number
- Whats and whys of folding?
- How to get started?
Or should I perhaps amend the title of this thread (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=574026) to attract the newer/prospective members?
I vote for just simple 1,2,3 type steps, with links to what they need to d/l and the view the install sticky's. Just a short, concise, overview
No what's and why's - that's another topic.
Harlam's sticky is fantastic, but newbie's will be glassy eyed.

I would really like to see them come out with a easier and better way to install and get setup. I finally got the smp client going on windows 7 but I wasn't able to run as a service.
Be nice for them to have a set it and forget it setup that you can easily check your stats and progress.
It is a little discouraging when the gpu can do a wu in an hour to two hours and the smp with all 4 cores takes 11 hours.
NUTNDUN
02-15-09, 08:03 AM
I forgot to mention it would be nice to have something posted since there are so many options in how to run f@h that it would be nice to know which way is better or which setup will yeild the most bang per day.
Yes! Can't do anything about the client problem (believe me, I've bitched a bushel full at Stanford FAH about that), but a very concise:
GPU folding - about 80 X faster than the SMP client, depending on the card, etc.
Only cards on *this list* <link> are supported.
cpu SMP folding - about 8 X as fast as the single processor folding client. Requires at least a dual core cpu.
Single processor folding client.
Should help.
Good idea to add to it, Is_907! Make an hierarchy, but keep it *simple*.
Adak: I think that'd be great. Especially if you include a link to the VM guide... I know a lot of novice folders will be "glassy-eyed" at VMs but it's good to have the resources all linked, anyway.
*pledges and statistics updated

Thanks to her for bringing her power back to Team 32!
MPC has a new member that does 400,000 PPD ?
No, that's not a new member, and he's not a super folder who will pass up ChasR, either.
The Smith-Lee folder is aka Tired Old Man and Tired Old Woman, on the MaxPC forum. They are being "gifted" a huge amount of those WU's and points, in an effort to boost them up into the top 100 folders in FAH, if only for awhile.
His "gifting" is now over, and slowly his points will revert to something normal, as the MaxPC'ers put their rigs back to folding for themselves.
Tired Old Man is quite a character, and has a great passion for folding AND for adding a zillion smilies to every post he makes! :)
I mentored him when he first started folding.
BTW: We have begun to slow down the gain of the MaxPC (and other) teams, quite noticeably. They are still gaining on us, but not as quickly as they were two weeks ago.

I was looking at EOC, just after the last update before I posted that message.
MaxPC team is still gaining on us, and their ppd continues to climb slightly, on average.
At that time, they were still outproducing us, but not as fast as they had been.
This thread, and big time help from a lot of teammates, both powerful and otherwise, is starting to have a real impact.
Wicked Pixie, Sno and now Nate, are good examples. H has been on an absolute tear for awhile now, Sno has jumped his ppd from around 200, to tens of thousands. I've doubled mine by adding back 3 rigs and getting the GPU card folding 24/7. I was at about 9,000 ppd, by tonight or tomorrow, I'll be at 18,000 ppd.
:welcome: Nate - your help (and sense of humor), is certainly appreciated!

most of the stats that i'm collecting and using come from the radar table for team32 summary page on Kakao Stats. I am pulling information from the site daily so we can track our progress. (see post #2)
http://kakaostats.com/tsum.php?t=32
By the way it looks like their momentum has been slowed by 1 million WU/Week We only need 4 million/week more in order to keep them from ever passing us.
IN JUST 3 DAYS WE HAVE gained 1/5th the boost we need to stay on top.
KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB GUYS
EOC reports us up from our average of 1.69 Million ppd to 1.818 Million, today.
MaxPC is down from their daily average of 2.35 to 2.23 M ppd.
1,818,000
1,690,000
========
+198,000
So we're up almost 200,000 points today, and MaxPC is down
2,350,000
2,230,000
=======
-120,000
Just about 120,000 points!!

I agree that we have made great strides in the past few days. We have increased our 7-day average PPD from 1,663,820 to 1,722,408 in just the past 2 days (an increase of 58.6k). And our point production in just the past 24 hours is 1,910,883 (an increase of 247k over Saturday's 7-day avg).
However, I was looking at another statistic on the EOC website which shows the PPD of all our team members. It may look confusing, but what it says is that only 27% (142 out of 522) of our team members are averaging more than 1,500 PPD. And only 19% (97 out of 522) of our team members are averaging more than 3,000 PPD.
PPD......PEOPLE......%......PEOPLE......%
6,000+......52.........10%.........52..........10%
3,000+......45..........9%.........97..........19%
1,500+......45..........9%........142..........27%
800+........47...........9%........189.........36%
400+........77.........15%........266..........51%
200+........71.........14%........337..........65%
100+........76.........15%........413..........79%
1+..........109.........21%........522.........100 %
We should really try to find out what is holding back the PPD for these team members. Do they realize that they can earn more points with the GPU clients? One ATI GPU is worth at least 1000 PPD, and one NV GPU is worth at least 3000 PPD. It seems like we should easily have 50% of the team earning at least 1500 PPD, and 33% of the team earning at least 3000 PPD.

You gentlemen are getting it in gear - congratulations.
You should eliminate some of those pesky new teams on your tail altogether and slow down MaximumPC pretty good also.

This will add to your success for a period of time.
Good preparation for the chimp race also.
I have a question about the chimp race.

We have again increased our ppd. From EOC stats:
24hr Avg Points Today's Points
=================================
1,733,656 1,948,542
1,948,542
-1,733,656
==========
214,886 We are up 214,888 points today, over our previous 24 hr. average. :)
MaxPC has also climbed, but a much smaller amount. They are far below their average daily output:
24hr Avg Points Today's Points
===============================
2,326,462 2,233,972
2,326,462
-2,233,972
===========
92,390 They're down by 92,390 points from their daily average
Distance between our team and MaxPC is now: 9,089,642 points.
If you want our team to stay in third place, speak up, fold up, and do it up, now! We have 5 teams at least, behind us, and all of them have more points than we were averaging up until this push.
So we're not talking about slipping to 4th place - we're talking about being put back to 5th, 6th, or 7th place, within just a few years.

I was referring to how the average formula wont have enough data to give your actual PPD, it will give one a few 10k or so short. I'm sure its correct now, but you've already flown by me.
You mind sending a few of those points my way? :)

I'm sending everything I have to the team. I know I'm the new guy here and it might take a bit for everyone to get used to me and my humour. But I am set to help and maintain team #32. The reason I have joined #32 is that I saw a group that has existed from the start and has the best fourms and people keeping it up that I would do anything to help them out. It's going to take me forever to get to the top ( check craigslist for my car so I can get 4 more 9800 gx2's ) But watch out guys! ( I'm just kidding my car is worth more than 4 gx2's - maybe 6 )

Stats on post# 2 updated
We only need 100,000 more PPD We are gonna make it!!!!!!!!!!!
I have just completed my custom pledge to install linux VM's onto my WIN 7.
I am now running 4 instances of Unbuntu on WIN 7 on my I7 machine and have boosted my PPD from 12,000 average ppd to 17,000 average ppd. As soon Gigabyte releases a bios to lower the QPI multi I will be trying for 20,000 PPD

ChasR,
Just use a remote login like VNC or Gotomypc, then from one rig you can loginto any of your boxes for monitoring.
Also you can use A program called FAHMon to monitor all of your clients from a single pc. not on just one computer but all the computers on your network even over the internet if setup correctly. All you need to do is share the folder the client is running in, then point FAHMON to the shared folder.
Look at the example setup here, I'm monitoring 3 pc's on my network.

Folding on the laptop periodically as well, though it's also a single core, and the temps get a bit of control at times.

I got half of the 30,000 point boost going today. The other half will have to wait for tomorrow. Driver problems, 3 cards recognized instead of 4 despite having 4 monitors attached, Instant EUE on card #3,...
2 9800 GTs did arrive today so hopefully they'll not cause as much grief as the 2 GTX295s.

PFFFF.
Wow, sure is lively in here. Gotta get my stupid SMP back up today, got 5 or so people in my rear view now.
My production is still gonna suck since my folding rig, my daily rig, and my benching rig are all the same. I can't exactly fold when I'm running at 4.4+ghz and disconnected from the interwebs.
The 280 GPU is O/C on shaders <mostly> and core <slightly>, and today the last instance of SMP is up and folding.
Couldn't get the VMware server 2.0 to work (twice, after 30 minutes or so it decides to take 99% of the cpu cycles, for some strange reason). Both odd and frustrating.
That brings me up to almost 18,000, which is just about double my normal warm weather ppd.
If you have anything to add for some more power -
Now's the Time!
Big thanks to Ozzlo for this thread, and for everyone who makes this team rally, fun and productive.

It's a much bigger team, no doubt. Here's some other team size facts to mull over - Teams sorted by the number of their active members:
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f319/Adak2/TopTeams.jpg
In May, we have our annual "Chimp Challenge" race, which this year will involve perhaps 8 or 9 of the larger teams.
Without handicapping, is there any doubt that HardOCP will have a *big* advantage? Sure, we'll get some volunteer help from our SETI & Rosetta bro's, but we won't get *that* much help.
Look at the size of the team, *and* their average ppd!
I'd like to see some kind of handicapping for the CC race, but I don't expect it, unfortunately.
We just have to work harder. Our TEAM average PPD/user is higher than Either of them. We're small, but we're feisty

I haven't been keeping up with fah developments in the last few months due to some RL issues and aquarium hobby taking up more of my free time. I just did a quick review of my rigs and by updating some drivers, adjusting some memory settings and tweaking oc's I think I can extract about 2k ppd more from them.
Great, JT! That's just what we need, right now!

I added a 9600GT last night, got my E8500 @ 4Ghz going 24/7, stock E6600 24/7, 2x quad core Xeon 2.8GHz (2 smp VMs and a OSX SMP) 24/7, 2.8GHz mac book pro 24/7, and I hope to add shortly a Q6600 @ 3GHz, a 9600GT, a 8800GT, and a Phenom X4 9550.
Go Team 32! Team 32 FTW!
I am helping my roommate purchase a 9800GT for his birthday on the stipulation that he uses it to fold so long as the card shall live. (with the minor exception of when he wants to game of course).

Got the two new 9800GT folding this week. Farm now running 40 instances, 110-120ppd by FahMon. Have to use 2.3.2b as the new 2.3.4 ver does not handle so many clients very well.

I just noticed that. Very nice.
I got my PS3 folding again, it had stability issues, note to anyone having problems turn off all sound and music options.
I also talked my g/f into letting me folder on her computer at night. Two single core and one GPU on Athlon X2 and Geforce 9600GT. I don't think it would be running long enough to meet the deadlines running SMP so single core will have to do. So 8 - 10 hours of folding is 900 to 1125 PDD added.

I received and setup the P6N Diamond mobo and 4x 8800GT's that I bought from Nitteo. Unfortunately, Windows does not want to recognize one of the VC's, but that's for another thread.
GOOD NEWS is that I have added 3x 8800GT's (non-overclocked for the moment) for Team 32.
MORE GOOD NEWS is that I got permission to run the not-fred's USB folding on a spare Q9300 at work. I will probably only get to run it for a few weeks though before it will be put into service.

Hey guys I know what I said before but I realized that even if I did well here's the thing: see I wouldn't be able to get another machine for folding because I wouldn't be allowed I'm a teen so I can't go out and make a folding farm like i wish i could. But you guys can. I see that most of you are adults so I'm asking for you to do it for me. Can you guys do what HayesK has done and is doing? I'm not allowed to oc or fold 24/7 but the 24/7 I do. :)
There are very few folders who are able to build up a farm and keep it folding, like HayesK has done.
We can all add something to this team, though. We share idea's, spread a lot of FAH related info, and have a bit of fun as well.
This thread is a great example - very motivational, and fun.
Other teams will be threatening us in the future, will this push and the push in March from the Madness contest, and in May for the annual Chimp Challenge, help keep us ahead of those teams?
Stay tuned to find out!
Ultimately, it's all about running *LOTS* of simulations for FAH, and having that data available for researchers to access. What cures await us, down the road?
Stay tuned to find out!

Here's some more encouraging news.
Back on 2/16, I posted some info regarding the PPD production of our team members. I'm glad to announce that we have increased the number of people on our team making more than 6K, 3K, 1.5K, and even 800 PPD. We have gone from 36% of our team members making more than 800 PPD to 40%, an increase of 20 people.
Congratulations to everyone that has increased their PPD!!!
We have 9 additional people making 6k+ PPD.
We have 4 additional people making 3k+ PPD.
We have 3 additional people making 1.5k+ PPD.
We have 4 additional people making 800+ PPD.
Another interesting statistic is the minimum PPD required to make the team's "Top 20 Producers" list. Here are the top 9 teams in terms of overall PPD, each is making more than 1.6M PPD. As you can see, our top 20 list is the second hardest to make.
Congratulations to those that have made our team's Top 20 list!!! Keep working hard, because I'm sure there are plenty of members trying to pass you and make the list themselves.
HardOCP top 20 requires...... 28,749 PPD.
OCF top 20 requires.............. 28,173 PPD.
CustomPC top 20 requires.... 20,455 PPD.
MaximumPC top 20 requires.. 19,660 PPD.
OCN top 20 requires.............. 17,423 PPD.
OCAU top 20 requires............ 15,511 PPD.
TSC Russia top 20 requires.... 14,755 PPD.
EVGA top 20 requires............... 9,809 PPD.

I'm now, as of this minute, at full production, 170,000+ ppd. About 40,000 ppd higher than last week.
I almost fell from my seat when i saw that!! WTF!!
I was just getting close enough to see the the tail lights and smell the exhaust on my partner ChasR again, but he put the pedal down, smoked the tires, and moved on up like I was standing still.:beer::beer:

Guys I'm sorry but I stopped folding for good. I will still try to help on this sub forum but I've stopped because I basically sucking my electric bill for nothing because I only fold w/ one machine only making 5K. Which from what AI've seen out of this thread, that is nothing. I wish I could buy a supercomputer for fah but I don't make the money to do that. Sorry guys.

I fold on my laptop which only makes ~250 ppd (yes 0.25k). I would have to fold on 25 laptops to equal your 5k. I agree that there is a bunch of power folders, but spread a little ppd per person over the rest of the team and it adds up fast.
Just checked the charts and you're number 66 in terms of ppd. That is out of 529 current active contributors putting you in the top 12-13%. Its sad you feel you do don't contribute enough because you're are at a level which 87-88% of our team only wish we could be.

ok folks I think I should be up to about 36k ppd now. I will keep looking for ways to get to 40k like I promised.
By the way, just an FYI. Do not be an idiot like me and run a quad AMD and GT260 on a 450 watt ps. As soon as you get SMP crankin, the box will start stankin. I SO FRIED MY MOBO.
And I have ordered a replacement, which I will power with this 650w ps.

My main folding machine only puts out 3000 - 4000PPD and I still consider that a lot. If we had 60 more computers doing 5000PPD of work then we would have 300,000PPD more which would keep us ahead of Maximum PC. 60 isn't that much and if we got a few newer quads or geforce 200's in that mix then the number of computers needed would drop sharply.

Science man, sorry to hear that you are quitting. I can certainly understand your frustration, and it does cost a certain amount of money to fold. But do remember that you are actually in the top 70 producers on this team out of over 520 people. Take a look at my post #203 on page 7, and you will see how important people like you are to this team. Take care and if you are ever in a position to rejoin the team, we will certainly welcome you back.

considering how many people are on this forum im sure we can get 50 or 60 more people doing 5000PPD at least. Many the site admin can do a newletter thru Vbulletin and send it to everyone?

Oooooooooohhhhhhhhh , I knew I liked this guy!   :D :D
@Science Man:
Folding is an ultra marathon project. You have to be entirely comfortable with the level of your participation.
Don't feel frustrated because FAH has your system tied up. When you do want to fold, make FAH fit into *your* schedule, not the other way around.
I wondered if something like this might happen when you posted that you were folding 24/7, even though you weren't supposed to run the computer 24/7.
I hope you'll stop by and say hi and just gab with us, from time to time. Whether you are folding or not, you have a team forum you're always welcome to drop in on.

Well I was working on getting the duos in my school which is still pending and probably won't happen. But if it miraculuosly does happen then I'll get my home machine on it again. And maybe I'll still try to get that machine I said I'd try to get but I still have no idea where I'd put it in my house. [url=http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CyberPower_Black_Pearl/]this is the machine I was thinking of getting consisting of Core i7 extreme, 6 GB of ram, and three extrmely good video crads, probably eqauls 16.5k if combined with my current machine. Also has anybody bought from that company?

no im pretty sure 98% of ocfourmers build their own systems from scratch
i would take a pos K8N/780i/680i and fill em up with 8800gt's and Q6600's
and use it for SETI HAHAHA
Have not purchased a retail box (other than notebook) since early 90s, and suspect most OCF members build their own personal rigs.
ChasR put about $2K into his most recent rig to get ~30Kppd, half of which was for the pair of 295s.
The best value is usually with mid-line components, which when overclocked, easily exceed top of the line retail stock. The overclock could be as simple as increasing a 200FSB CPU to 233, or 266 to 333, or 333 to 400. Similar things can be done with ram and GPU. Just takes a lot of patience to get the optimum settings for all components. A problem with most of the retail boxes is that the bios is locked down with very few adjustable features, which makes them difficult to work with.
Lot more fun to build your own!:):):)

Science man, I don't whether you have ever built a computer from scratch, but to me that is most of the fun. You get to pick and choose what parts you want and then put it together yourself. It may be a little intimidating at first, but there are plenty of people here that can help. PLUS it is a lot cheaper to build your own. You could build a rig like the P6N in my sig for about $650, not including case, monitor, kb, mouse, Win XP.

If we did that you wouldn't have anything to make fun of us about. We can't all be super overclockers like you guys. Now, if only you were as good at recruiting as you are overclocking.... :santa::santa:

Yes we are. I just got my friend folding for Team32 on his 9600GT and his PS3 24/7. He has the shaders up from 1750MHz to 1804MHz at the moment and I'm sure there is a lot more to be had. All going well I'll have time to get over to him and get a Linux VM going as well; his E8400 should add another few points :D

I never got to read up on how to build. The only pieces of internal components I know are the motherboard, cpu, ram, and video card. I'm so clear on the sockets. I know that they'.re where you put the cpu but is the difference between them their size? Besides I was was told that it's more expensive to buy computer components then to just buy a whole machine.

The socket numbers 1366 and 775 refer to the number of pins on the bottom of the CPU, so it is very important that the CPU and mobo are the same. 1366 is for i7 CPU's, and 775 is for Core 2 Dual and Core 2 Quad CPU's.
There are 2 types of memory used today DDR2 and DDR3, so it is very important that the memory modules and mobo are the same.
All current video cards use PCI-e slots, and most mobo's have at least 2 slots, some have 3 or 4 slots.
As for pricing, I would say this. If you are buying a cheap low-end computer, it is probably cheaper to buy a whole machine. If you are buying a high-end computer, then it is definitely cheaper to build it yourself. As I mentioned before, I paid about $650 for the P6N rig in my sig. Compare that to the $3000 price tag on the computer you linked to.

That is because the computer I linked is much more high end then ur E2100. 4 slots!!! HOLY SH** THAT IS AWSOME BUT WHERE THE HECK DO YOU BUY IT? EVEN THE COMPUTER I LINKED TO CAN ONLY RUN THREE.

A week ago, I thought I would make it into the Top 20 PPD Producers list with the addition of my P6N 4x 8800GT rig, but now I'm not so sure. The minimum PPD required to make the list seems to go up every day. Good for the team , but not so good for my personal goals. :bang head
If I could get more a2 cores and 353 pointers, I might stand a chance, but until then, I will just have to keep pushing as hard as I can. Fold On everyone and keep up the good work.

Science Man, the increased difficulty to get onto the top 10 producers oage means that ALOT of people here have increased their production dramatically. Also we have new members who produce Alot of points per day, and have climbed the ranks rapidly.

In the EOC stats, click on the link Team Users List (on the left-hand side pane of the web page), and then click the "Points 24hr Avg" link at the top to sort the users by highest daily PPD to lowest. You can click any other column heading to sort a specific stat from highest to lowest.
science man please quit calling out harlam357. How much he decides to contribute to the folding@home project is his own business, not ours.
