Hi all
Today I reinstalled my windows ME. I also used a program called Tweak-Me Gold after reconfiguring my system. A few hours ago I tried to run 3dmark2001 and either of two things happen. I get a blue screen error which reads the following : VMM(01) + 0000DC99 Error 0E 0028 C000EC99 or : 3dmark cuts out with the following error : Reliable benchmarking cannot be completed because the 3d mark display window lost focus. Can Someone please help me out. Could something tweak-me did cause this?? Windows seems stable. Thanks for any help.
System:
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1.61 Ghz
Abit KR7A-RAID With 256 MD DDR 2.5C
Visiontek Nvidia Geforce3 ti 200
Sound Blaster Live
Windows ME

I'm not familliar with the Tweak-Me Gold program. Is this a utility that loads when Windows starts, then remains loaded (like in your taskbar)? I'm asking because maybe the program is stealing focus from 3DMark, or (considering the BSOD) possibly conflicting in memory. If it is loading when Windows starts, have you tried disabling it before running 3DMark? I may be way off base as I'm completely unfamilliar with Tweak-Me Gold, but that would be the first thing I'd check. Good luck, I hope this is of some help.

Heya,
Without any more detail, I would say the error is memory related, either physical memory, or system (swap/cache).
Try removing the Tweak program and run the test again.
Let us know how it works out.

I have tried everything! 3dmark2001 keeps ending at some point during benchmark with same error "Reliable Benchmarking Cannot be completed because the 3d mark display window lost focus" There is absolutely no other programs running! I just cant figure it out. If someone has any ideas to throw at me, Im listening because I have tried everything, even reinstalled my OS from clean format!
Also I keep getting the following tip in Sisoft sandra benchmarks : "System has no SMBUS/i2c/BMB" anyone have an idea what this is? Thanks
Thanks, Sam R.

whats up
Well, I have run extensive tests on almost everything using Sisoft Sandra. I ran the Memory Benchmark Burn in wizard set to 12 times, along with CPU several times. Memory does not seem to be the problem according to tests. BUT the CPU-Multimedia benchmark always brings up blue screen of death or computer freezes around the 3rd or 4th go around in burn in wizard. So this with 3dmark constantly freezing, I would assume the problem is with video card, agp. I have no Idea what to do, I have tried numerous things. Below is my agp settings in BIOS :
AGP aperture size 128mb
AGP mode 4x
AGP Driving Control Manual
AGP Driving Value ( tried DA, EA, E7, BA so far)
AGP fast wright enabled
agp read synchronization disabled
AGP master 1ws write enabled
AGP master 1ws read enabled
Video ram cacheable Disabled
I am playing with the AGP driving controll because I read that it sometimes helps to set manually.
I also have tried master write/read both ways.
I have my video card set back to default speeds.
System:
AMD athlon xp 1700+ @ 1.61 Ghz ( 134 * 12 )(cooled with Globalwin cak38)
Abit KR7A-RAID MB with 256MB DDR 2.5C ( I bought mem form Multiwave, I guess its a generic industry standard, it has there name on it)
Visiontek Nvidia Geforce3 ti 200(cooled with Copper crystal orb and agp airlift)
Actiontec DSL modem
Widows ME
I have stripped everything out of PCI slots. But apparently was not the problem. I also tried with usb modem unattached.
thanks for your help, Greatly appreciated at this point!

I remember having problems w/ the old 21.83 drivers on the TNT2 Pro I have. don't remember what error exactly. but a driver upgrade resolved the issue, if u have the newest drivers, try using some older ones or the original that came w/ ur vid card. Do u have DX 8 on ur comp, how much mem u got?

Focus: Concentration, attention to an object or event.
A window loses focus when another process thread demands the computer's focus immediately. This happens most visibly when surfing the web / downloading, and a page downloads completely and you have a number of windows open. Some Monitoring software also has this funny habit of stealing and restoring focus.
Can be corrected easily, I use tweakUI from Microsoft and set to 'Prevent applications from stealing focus'. Actually I've never used 3D Mark, but that's a little insight on stealing focus.
I think you should set AGP driving values back to auto. Also try backing off the RAM timings from BIOS, if possible.
"System has no SMBUS/i2c/BMB" Sounds Like a problem with Hardware monitoring, AFAIK. You might wanna put off any monitoring software (I know you reinstalled and are running clean). I don't think the BIOS deals with the OS for this, so I'm not sure if you should switch off BIOS monitoring, but it's a try.
Does Sandra / 3D Mark run OK on the stock config?
