I just got my new system together... well, it seems that VIA Hardware Monitor is telling me my processor is at a steady 35 celcius on idle and 30 ambient (heater is on). Upon installing the processor.. I had to push the thermal sensor down, do you think this is what's causing the high temp reading.. or do you think it's accurate? I have a XP 1800+ and a HHC-001 w/ArcticSilver II

Thanks :(

-Edit- Just dropped to 34

6 WU's down... only raised 3 degrees to 37 and holding

Anyone think I have anything to worry about?

-Edit- 10 WU's down... still holding at 37 celcius

That's about what mine runs, sounds fairly acurate to me.

Thanks for the peace of mind! I did some recording of temps and it always seems to stay 5 degress above ambient on idle... is this normal for this processor (XP 1800+)?

By the way.. I only have 1 intake, 1 exhaust and the exhaust on the PSU. Side is off... it's a new Antex SX1035B case.. don't know if I should get more case fans or just wait until I get water-cooled.

:eh?:

I dont worry about idle temps much, just that I dont want it to overheat and ruin my processor :eh?:

60-70c will ruin your processor not 35....
