Temp probe use possible with CPU shim?

Will it still be possible to use a temp probe such as the "compunurse" even if I am using a shim?
I've read that you should place the probe as close to the core as possible. When using a shim, is there enough clearance for the probe to fit through and still allow a level heatsink on the core?
Detailed instructions on what to do in this case, please.

You need to mod it a little bit but then again why use a shim
