Not yet, downloading it now. Looking forward to it though.
*Update. Just played it for about 20 minutes. (2 missions). Felt just like Ace Combat 6 to me.
Oversimplified flight controls.
Can't set controller settings to what I want.
HUD overload.
Annoying AI screaming in your ear ever 5 seconds wanting you to destroy every plane, boat, tank, ship, bomber on the screen instantly singlehanded.
Your aircraft has the magic capability of carrying a billion missiles, but can only hold 6 flares...
I could go on, but I think it just made me feel a resounding "Eh". Expected more from a 'Clancy' title I guess. Others of his games had so much mind numbing detail I expected something a bit more realistic. So, other than 'more realistic ground' I can't say this has much, if anything, more to offer than Ace Combat 6. Just another arcade flight game.
Hopefully someday there will make one a bit more like Falcon 4.0 and little less like AC6 with more realistic dogfights, ground attack and support missions. That's one I'd be more interested in.

Agreed, though I personally preferred USAF (Jane's Combat Simulations). Multiplayer was great; I loved blowing the **** out of the F-117 pilots who didn't realize that turning on the radar in a stealth fighter was, in fact, not a good idea.
On another note, does anyone know why the F-117 is considered a stealth "fighter"? I don't normally consider a plane that carries 2 bombs, no missiles, and no gun to be a fighter of any kind
Back on topic now. Yup... HAWX, unimpressive. Fun for a couple of minutes, but that's about it.

would it be fun for a noob like me, who has no knowledge of planes whatsoever?
the only flying game i have is Ace Combat X on psp. i'd imagine it's a pumped up graphics version of the psp game? :santa:
is it the situation where Gran Turismo is to MS Flight Sim as NFS is to HAWX? :)
BTW. this is coming to PC right? because i was referring to PC. (didn't realise the thread was in Game Consoles section)

I've been clammoring to play this game. I'll download the demo when I get home tonight. Unlike you guys I liked Ace Combat 6, aside from the stupid storyline. The combat was super fun though.
Yes, the F117A is a fighter. It is the F117A Stealth Fighter while the B2 was the stealth bomber. I don't know about other games but The F117A in Ace Combat 6 was TERRIBLE as a fighter and the stealth really didn't work in that game even when flying below radar. It's slow and it couldn't take very much punishment.

I got Ace 6 about a month ago and enjoy it. Haven't beaten it yet but fun.
I thought this was coming to the PC as well but not sure. IMO Im enjoying it, course its not fully realistic but its fun to play and screw around with.

I never play flying games these days, I feel like they took two steps back to find out what made old arcade flying games so much fun and gave it a modern makeover.

Well, HAWX could be a fun game and all, what with all the flying around and blowing stuff up. It's just that I haven't played a good realistic combat flight game for a long time. Definitely worth picking up the demo if you haven't played a similar game recently.
And I do believe it is coming out for PC.

Yes, I do know that the F-117 was a fighter in AC6 (and probably in other arcade flight games as well). My comment refers to the actual jet, which I'm fairly certain carries two bombs in its bay as its only ordinance. Granted, they're pretty big bombs at 2000 pounds, have laser or GPS guidance, and can carry nuclear warheads, but they're still bombs nonetheless.

The F for F-117 and F-35 were given not because they are fighters but because no one wants to fly a A or B desigination aircraft apparently. :P

I finally got the demo and am sad to say that this is going to be a rent not a buy. Nowhere near as good as Ace Combat 6.

The F117 is labeled as stealth fighter but it really is a light bomber. It really has no other fighting capabilities

Taken from the Wiki:
Designation
An F-117A parked at Langley AFB, Virginia. The 59 operational aircraft had an official designation of "F-117A".[19] The five Full Scale Development (FSD) aircraft are designated "YF-117A".[20]
Most modern U.S. military aircraft use post-1962 designations in which the designation "F" is usually an air-to-air fighter, "B" is usually a bomber, "A" is usually a ground-attack aircraft, etc. (Examples include the F-15, the B-2, and the A-6.) The Stealth Fighter is primarily a ground-attack plane so its "F" designation is inaccurate.
The designation "F-117" would seem to indicate that it was given an official designation prior to the 1962 U.S. Tri-Service Aircraft Designation System and could be considered numerically to be a part of the earlier "Century series" of fighters. The assumption prior to the revealing of the aircraft to the public was that it would likely receive the designation F-19 as that number had not been used. However there were no other aircraft to receive a "100" series number following the F-111. The explanation is an example of US Government secrecy. Captured Soviet fighters were given F-series numbers for their evaluation by U.S. test pilots, and with the advent of the "Teen Series" fighters, most often 'Century Series' designations.
As with other exotic military aircraft types flying in the southern Nevada area, such as captured fighters, an arbitrary radio call of "117" was assigned. This same radio call had been used by the enigmatic 4477th "Red Hats/Red Eagles" unit that often had flown expatriated MiGs in the area, but there was no relationship to the call and the formal F-19 designation then being considered by the Air Force. Apparently, use of the "117" radio call became commonplace and when Lockheed released its first flight manual ("dash one"), F-117A was the designation printed on the cover.[21]
A recent televised documentary quoted a senior member of the F-117A development team as saying that the top-notch fighter pilots required to fly the new aircraft were more easily attracted to an "F" plane, as opposed to a "B" or "A" aircraft.[22]
[edit] Nicknames
The aircraft's official name is "Night Hawk",[23] however the alternative form "Nighthawk" is frequently used.

You are right. F-117A is a bomber not a fighter, and the F designation is incorrect.

Deja-Vu
well sorry to bump such an old post.. but this could be the test for ubi version of battlefield..
the game is clearly awsome in a lot of ways..
im sure ubi can see that dice and electronic arts are not living up to the battlefield franchise name anymore..
maybe there planning a rainbow six plus hawx type of game with a battlefield experience...now that would be something ..
