Haunted Cd-rom

hey there, my cd-rw wants to open up when i boot up. and if i close it , well it opens again.

i tried to yell at it, but it didnt work.

there is no virus.

it has done this before, but i cant remember how i got it to stop. one time i just left it over night and it was ok in the morning.

it was working just fine for a while, only thing i know i did, was aburptly unplug the computer.

i have tried to clear cmos, defrag.. all the things that come to my mind.

anyone ever experience this.

do i have a ghost :)

What burn software are you using?

i have nero, and clonecd

i am not even using the cd-rom.
i just turned my computer on.
there is no disk in it.

atlhough the led lights up looking for a cd.

well i left it unplugged for a couple hours and shut it off. .. and all is well again .hrmmmmmmm

How about upgrading its firmware? You need to go to your CD-RW's manufacture website and search for "firmware".

If it doesn't work.... then you need to go to service center. I suspect it is a defect / mechanical failure. Not softwares. Good luck Man....:D
