Is there a program you can run that will tell you if you have bad ram or not? If so can someone throw me a link or something. I tired the Cpstd I think it was but it didn't recognize my chipset so it wouldn't run, maybe I had a bad download of it.

Help.............
thanks

SO if i run this program and every thing passes does this mean my ram is okay? I ran it and nothing failed.
Thanks for the DL by the way.

Supposedly.

Maybe you need a little extra voltage bump to your memory. Tried that?

No i have the SOYO Dragon it doesn't let you do that. But even so I am running PC2700 for that reason. Shouldn't be able to go up to 166FSB without a voltage increase. this is why i bought this ram. Am i wrong on this assumption?

That test will fail if the memory has problems as it is set when you run the test.
If you run the test at 166mhz and it passes 10 loops you should be ok.

Yeah it passed. Then what would be my problem. What could make the system keep crashing with bad files and Page faults and Irq less or not equal. Think it may be just WinXP giving me crap? Should I try another OS?

Could be your raid dosen't like 166mhz, raid is more sensitive to overclocking.
Could be the cpu have you tried a lower multiplier?
Win xp gives me no problems but I have different hardware.

I had FSB overclocking problems with 3 different PCs on XP when compared to Win2K. Same results you're having so I switched back.

I'll also agree on the HPT370 controller not liking high bus speeds (in most cases) as it failed on my VP6 after 150MHz. My 8K7A+, however, chugged right along at 166MHz no problem.

I have tried 11.5x152 12x146. I can run either of these about the same. If I bump the FSB up to 160 it won't boot at all. thats 10.5x160.
I think maybe it is the Raid. I have the Promise Fast Trak Lite, not he HPT370. But I do have it on my VP6 but never used it.
I might try another OS, but I like XP and for the money I payed for it my wife would kill me if I didn't use it. ANd she likes it.

See the strange part is I can run Prime95 no problem. It is just a random thing. I will quite Prime95 then a few minutes later it crashes. Temps never reach above 108Farienhiet. Sometimes it happens as soon as it boots. It is completey random and driving me crazy.
