I have a GF2 TI in an older AGP 1.0 compliant BX mobo, and it mostly works fine, but I have a couple of problems. On 2d menus in some 3d games, the first line of pixels may me garbled random colors (the rest is fine and 3d is fine too). Also sometimes after coming back from sleep mode the whole screen is garbled and the comuter frozen. On two occasions last week the monitor went to sleep spontaneously while changing resolutions or rebooting and computer froze. I'm pretty sure it's all because the card requires agp 2.0 compliant agp slot which I don't have. I want to try setting it to 1x from 2x to see if it helps, but don't know how. The registry hack from geforcefaq doesn't work with new drivers. So, how can I do it then? Can I still do it thru the drivers somehow or do I need a 3rd party utility like Powerstrip?

I believe the 1.0 and 2.0 compliance is something other than 1x,2x,4x,etc... It has something to do with how the card transmits data through the agp slot... I could be wrong though. And to enable agp 1x... I don't think any nvidia cards since the GF2 have supported it so you might be causing even more problems... but once again I could be wrong...;)

AGP 1.0 is 2X, AGP2.0 is 4X, drivers have nbo problem with 2X

OK, I was searching deja for info on comptibilty between older agp 1.0 slot and newer cards, ad ppl who had problems reported solving them by turning down agp speed to 1x. Geforcefaq has that info too. So I wanted to give it a try.

I think your suggestion of powerstrip would be the best bet... unless someone else knows of a different program to do it...

NvMax allows you to choose 1x. And it's free, unlike powerstrip.
