something becomes unstable..

Is your hardware overclocked?

Check your temps via GPUz and CoreTemp/Realtemp.

Update your drivers?

Are it any specific games that stop working?

Drop it to stock, does the problem go away? If so, it is the overclock...

someone told me that if it drops back to desttop its the grahic card getting too hot or the heat rising from the card is overheating the NB and thats why it stops? i was thinking bout pacing a sheet of card on the graphic card to stop the heat riseing. what to u guys think of that?

Try underclocking your GPU even below stock settings but especially the memory. See if the problem goes away. I have had that problem on 3 Powercolor HD4870 1gb cards and with different CAT versionsfrom 8.10 up. I finally discovered that underclocking stabilizes the card. Not sure if the newer ATI drivers have lower voltage bios settings or what but between bad cards and glitchy performance I am going with a 285 GTX this time around.
