Hello everyone, right now I have a q9550 on a P5N-D mobo. I have 8 gigs ddr2 800. I want to upgrade to:

- GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3P
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128369

and

- G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231167

How much will this affect my performance? I play video games alot and do a little bit of video editing. I am also getting into web design, if that helps. Is it worth the money to upgrade to ddr3 memory? The rest of my system is in my sig but I just purchased a gtx 260 and a 1 tb HDD. Thanks for helping!

Currently you have 8 Gbs of DDR2. It will affect you to move to 4Gb of DDR3. Plus DDR3 does not offer that much more performance.

DDR3 is for i7 build's (for now) the price of DDR2 is a much better option for price/performance. if you want to bost your system, ditch the 9600gt. thats all i would do

Yea I just bought a gtx 260! So ddr2 800 to ddr3 1600 wont offer much of a performance difference? I understand i will be going form 8 gigs to 4 gigs, but I still have 2 dimms left to fill when ddr3 gets cheaper. :)

One more question, does the q9550 take full advantage of ddr3 memory?

Thanks!!

I would not waste your money, there is no improvement with DDR3 or a new board, just purchases the video card, if you just want to blow your money go ahead and knock your self out.:burn:
