The soul caliber online mode is the worst online experiance I have ever had. The quick match has yet to work for me it just always returns "game session full" and the matches seem to be luck based. Because of the lag it seems like someone just gets lucky with their block or attack getting in. I think I am done with it, online mode that is.
Sorry, just very frustrated and venting.

no need to be sorry, your complaints are fully justified. When my friend and I got tired of playing each other on the 360 we tried to go online and as you said many players just abuse the lag. I remember we did a google search about it and the consensus was generally that the online play did (does) indeed suck.
Though lag has generally been a problem with fighting games, I've tried to play Guilty Gear XX and Melty Blood online (obscure titles i know) and in games such as these where even slight lag can cause dropped frames it can totally mess up your rhythm or combo or move cancel, which leads to a lot of frustration especially because you know that you are not the one at fault.

It always played fine for me on the PS3. I have a 70% win record and I'm somewhere in the upper echelon of online players. (Or at least I *was*... been a while since I played.)
I play ranked matches... never had any trouble finding competition (though there is bound to be less now that SFIV is here.)

Same thing happens in Madden. I don't know whether to blame the programmes, Xbox LIVE or it's just because of the MASSIVE install-base of the 360
edit: Just read that some slimeballs and scumbags are launching Denial of Service attacks on Xbox LIVE. that is probably the source of your misery.
yea, it can definitely get pretty bad.. SFIV is much better online. I've only experienced 1 match that lagged at all, and that was only at the beginning of the match.

I read about that also Fudge, but I doubt that is the problem.
I really wish more games on the 360 would actually give you your ping as a number instead of you have 3 bars or 5 bars or no bars. I suppose it is good that the 360 is fairly mainstream, but I kind of hate how much some things are dumbed down for it.
